Michigan has been left licking its wounds after a 31-12 drubbing at the hands of Texas. The good news for Michigan is the Wolverines welcome a beatable opponent in Arkansas State for Week 3.

And despite all the concerns around the quarterback situation and offense at large, the Wolverines are still favored to get on the winning track and move to 2-1 against the Red Wolves. The line opened with Michigan as 21.5-point favorites, according to FanDuel.

The over/under is set at 47.5 points.

The main focus for Michigan against the Red Wolves will surely be trying to find a bit of offensive rhythm and, ideally, some spark and explosion.

Starting quarterback Davis Warren has completed nearly 64% of his passes through two games (37-of-58) but has only mustered 322 yards and a pair of touchdowns in those games, while throwing three interceptions. And that lack of passing threat has given defenses the leeway to load boxes and key in on Michigan’s running game.

While the Wolverines were ultimately able to subdue Fresno State’s defense in Week 1, it could not overcome the talent of Texas in Week 2 — and the defense could only tread water for so long until the Longhorns broke the dam.

But playing again with a likely distinct talent edge, Michigan should be able to lean on the Arkansas State lines over the course of the game, hence the Wolverines are again favored.

And if the Michigan offense does start to show some signs of life in the passing attack, the Wolverines still have ample opportunity to pick up a signature win or two down the stretch of the 2024 season.

But any improvement needs to happen fast, and start in Week 3 against Arkansas State.
