Michigan wide receiver Roman Wilson declares for 2024 NFL Draft
After helping lead the Wolverines to a national championship win, Michigan star wide receiver Roman Wilson has officially declared for the 2024 NFL Draft.
Wilson was Michigan’s top wide receiver this season during their journey to a national championship victory last Monday night, but after spending all four seasons of his collegiate career with the Wolverines’ program, the senior will now be looking to take his talents to the next level.
Wilson announced his decision via social media on Sunday night in a heartfelt message that can be seen below.
Wilson was a four-star prospect out of St. Louis High School in Honolulu (HI) where he was ranked the No. 268 overall player and the No. 47 wide receiver in the 2020 recruiting class according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Michigan was Wilson’s college of choice out of high school, appearing in all six games of the 2020 shortened season as a true freshman where he caught nine passes for 122 yards with one touchdown. He followed that up with 25 receptions for 420 yards with three touchdowns in his sophomore season for the Wolverines, appearing in 13 games and making five starts.
As a junior he’d have his second straight season with 25 receptions, adding 376 yards and four touchdowns to his stat line, but he’d take his game to another level in his final season in Ann Arbor. In 2023 he’d lead the Wolverines in all three major receiving categories, ending the season with a career-high 48 catches, 789 yards, and 12 touchdowns.
Wilson ranked second in the Big Ten in touchdown grabs and earned Second-Team All-Big Ten honors following the regular season, playing a crucial role in Michigan’s offense on their way to a national title.
