Mike McCarthy calls Micah Parsons 'No. 1 violator' of key practice rule
Dallas Cowboys edge rusher Micah Parsons has been a problem at training camp, particularly for the Cowboys offense. However, Parsons has also allegedly become the team’s No. 1 violator of the key practice rule that keeps Dak Prescott safe.
Head coach Mike McCarthy shared on Thursday that the staff has addressed the linebacker coming into contact with the quarterback several times now.
“Oh yeah, we’ve talked about that a number of times,” McCarthy said before practice. “That’s all part of the practice ethic, discipline. He is a No. 1 violator right now.”
Earlier this week, Parsons inadvertently clipped the veteran QB low on a play. Prescott ended up popping right back up, but with his history, it’s hard not to flashback to his 2020 ankle injury versus the Giants. Even though it looked like Parsons tried to bail out of the hit, it wasn’t the only incident.
The third-year player is as hungry as any of his teammates to help Dallas reach a Super Bowl, but one wrong move on Prescott could throw the whole season into chaos.
A non-contact injury to Joe Burrow last week was a stark reminder of the treacheries of training camp. Burrow will now have to miss most, if not all, of Bengals training camp.

Parsons likely to debut in NFL Top 100
The NFL has revealed every player so far from 11 through 100 on the annual NFL Top 100 list and Dallas Cowboys star Micah Parsons is not among them. It means, likely, for the very first time, the former Penn State standout will be amongst the top-10 ranked players in the entire league when the reveal ends this week.
Perhaps even more meaningful than a high Madden rating, the NFL top 100 list is voted on by the players. Myles Garrett, who received a 98 Madden rating to Parsons’ 97, was the No. 20 player on this year’s list. Defensive Player of the Year Nick Bosa is also likely in the top 10 since he hasn’t appeared yet.
Parsons earned AP Defensive Rookie of the Year after he racked up 13 sacks and 20 tackles in 2021. That performance earned him the No. 16 spot on the list going into last season. He topped his rookie number with 13.5 sacks, only further establishing himself as one of the league’s best.
Other Cowboys in the top 100 are DeMarcus Lawrence (99), Zack Martin (68), Trevon Diggs (60, Dak Prescott (56), Tony Pollard (55), and CeeDee Lamb (34).
