CeeDee Lamb‘s frustration through the first five weeks of the season boiled over on Sunday night. The Dallas Cowboys wide receivers was visibly upset in a 42-10 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, and he didn’t exactly hide anything while speaking with reporters after the game.

Lamb ended Sunday’s game as the leading receiver for Dallas, but totaled just four receptions on five targets. He finished the game with 49 yards and no touchdowns.

This week, Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy addressed the situation involving Lamb and the receiver’s frustrations with the offense.

“I’ll just say that if he’s not pissed off that he’s not getting the ball, then I’m pissed off that he’s not pissed off,” McCarthy said, per the Dallas Morning News. “He’s an impact player. He should feel that way. It’s like anything in life, how you handle things and move forward, how you affect others. There’s so many things that can come out of that. I’m fully aware of it, and it was frustrating. It was frustrating not doing your part on offense. I felt that. I felt frustration as a play-caller.”

Through five games of the NFL season, Lamb has 27 catches for 358 yards and just one touchdown. He’s had four catches in four of the first five contests. The lone outlier came with an 11-reception outing against the Jets. He piled up 143 yards in the 30-10 win.

Following Sunday’s loss to San Francisco, Lamb was asked if he knew the team’s offensive identity.

“I don’t know,” Lamb said first. Then, asked whether he should know after five weeks of the season, he added, “I guess so, I don’t know.”

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones comments on CeeDee Lamb’s usage

Mike McCarthy wasn’t the only one to comment on Lamb’s situation. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones also spoke on the receiver’s frustration in an interview on 105.3 The Fan.

Jones was asked if he believes Lamb should receive more targets this year. He didn’t exactly give the most direct response.

“I don’t know about that,” Jones said, per Jon Machota of The Athletic. He added that he wants to see the ball spread around to more playmakers — wide receivers and tight ends.

Lamb earned Pro Bowl honors each of the last two seasons in Dallas. Last year, he hauled in 107 receptions for 1,359 yards and nine touchdowns. It marked the second-straight year the former first-rounder exceeded 1,000 yards.

We’ll see if the Cowboys make Lamb a priority this coming week. Dallas travels to Los Angeles for a showdown with the Chargers on Monday Night Football.
