Micah Parsons turned a few heads on Sunday evening after Dallas lost to Philadelphia, alluding to head coach Mike McCarthy leaving while saying players have put in work. Since then, Parsons has claimed his words were being twisted and his intention did not have anything against McCarthy.

Less than 24 hours later, the two have spoken to one another about the comments. McCarthy says the moment was handled “like men” and Parsons directly told his head coach there was nothing against him in the quote.

“Mike McCarthy said he spoke to Micah Parsons about the edge rusher’s comments after last night’s game,” ESPN’s Todd Archer said via X. “’Handled things like men,’ McCarthy said, adding Parsons’ intent was not to question the coach.”

Dallas suffered a tough loss against Philadelphia as the season continues to trend downward. Parsons was asked about McCarthy’s job security and the “sentiment” around the locker room about the result. The response turned into Parsons saying he felt bad for some of the veterans who have been with the Cowboys for quite some time.

“Mike can leave and go wherever he wants,” Parsons said postgame. “But guys I kind of feel bad for … Zack Martin and guys who might be on their last year, on their way out, because that’s who I wanted to hold the trophy for. You want to win games and do great things with those types of legends who put in more time and work than Mike McCarthy ever did. So those are the kind of guys that I have so much sympathy and hurt for.”

After seeing some of the response on social media to his comments, Parsons sent out a message of his own, stating there was nothing ill-meaning toward McCarthy. And now, the two have apparently had a conversation and there appears to be no bad blood between them as they prepare to face the Houston Texans.
