Mike McCarthy reveals Odell Beckham Jr undergoing medical visit with Cowboys staff

Dallas Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy shared an update on how things are progressing with Odell Beckham Jr, claiming he underwent a medical visit. Dallas has remained the most vocal suitor for the star free agent receiver, and McCarthy’s update seems to indicate the team is still very serious about negotiating a deal with Beckham.

“Mike McCarthy says wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is currently at Cowboys’ facility, going through the medical visit phase with staffers including head athletic trainer Jim Maurer and director of rehabilitation Britt Brown,” explained Yahoo Sports‘ Jori Epstein on Monday.

While the visit is not a surprise one — the Cowboys were the third stop on Beckham’s list after meeting with the Buffalo Bills and New York Giants last week — it is a meaningful part of the process for Dallas to do their due diligence on Beckham’s health. The 30-year-old receiver is coming back from a second ACL tear in the past two seasons, leaving many to wonder how healthy he currently is.

Despite health concerns, the Cowboys remain clear about their goal with Beckham — to add him as a Super Bowl piece and weapon for Dak Prescott and the Cowboys offense.

Dallas’ offense has been good already over the past six games since Prescott returned from injury. The defense has been giving the offense extra chances as well, leading to Dallas averaging 37.2 points per game over the past six games while outscoring opponents by an average of 19.2 points.

The idea of adding another weapon of Beckham’s caliber — if healthy — is an appealing one to the Cowboys and Jerry Jones. On Sunday, Dallas scored the most points of any NFL team this season with 54 against the Colts. The 50-point explosion was the third one for Dallas since 2021, while the rest of the NFL have three combined.
