Mike Tirico, Cris Collinsworth send heartwarming message to Randy Moss after cancer diagnosis
Toward the end of Sunday Night Football, Mike Tirico and Cris Collinsworth took a moment to think about Randy Moss with him now battling cancer.
In the closing minute and a half of Green Bay vs. Seattle on Sunday, Collinsworth wanted to note Moss considering what he’s dealing with medically as of recently. That’s Moss revealed his cancer diagnosis last week after a procedure and recovery for a form of the disease that he had developed which has also led to him stepping away from his role as an analyst for ESPN as of now.
“Can we say hello and wish well to Randy Moss, right? I mean, battling cancer as we speak,” Collinsworth said. “Just one of the greatest players in the history of our game. When he came on the scene, that guy just exploded on the scene.”
“I’ve had the chance to work with him on a couple of different things. You just love being around him. You know, he kind of had a reputation as a player like, ‘Ah, he’s a little rough, whatever’. Not at all. I mean, just not at all,” said Collinsworth. “Just thinking about you. Praying for you.”

That led to a story from Tirico from a ceremony that he attended in New England back in June that reminded him just how beloved that Moss is in the NFL.
“I got a chance to be, six months ago, up in Foxborough when they honored Tom Brady. They filled the stadium. It was a great night,” Tirico recalled. “Randy Moss came out and, before he could say a word, he got a standing ovation from the 200 ex-Patriots that were there and the entire Gillette Stadium. Just an appreciation for that great season with Tom and what he meant to them and means to a lot of folks around the league.”
“Does a great job with ESPN on Sundays. So, Randy, we are praying for you and thinking of you, man,” said Tirico.
