Mike Tomlin shares medical updates on multiple Steelers players
As the Pittsburgh Steelers come out of the bye, they’re dealing with their share of notable injuries. Mike Tomlin provided a lengthy list of updates in his press conference Tuesday, and it sounds like there’s plenty up in the air ahead of this week’s game against the New Orleans Saints.
Tomlin listed seven players who ended up on Wednesday’s injury report, including Myles Jack, who’s dealing with a knee injury. He said the team is going to see how the week goes before making final determinations for Sunday’s game against the Saints.

“Myles Jack got minimized last week with the knee,” Tomlin said. “We’ll let his participation be our guide. [Chris] Kuntz experienced a rib injury. We’ll let his participation be our guide. It could limit him at the early portions of the week, but don’t have many reservations about his availability. [Ahkello] Witherspoon with the hamstring, Will Jackson — who we just acquired — with the back, might be limited some in the early portions of the week. Some existing things that we’re managing and will let their availability, the amount of availability and the quality of that work be our guide. Levi Wallace as he comes off his shoulder, [Larry] Ogunjobi as he comes off his knee and [Chris] Boswell as he works off of his groin.
“Some of these guys worked in some capacities yesterday. As we get on the clock Wednesday and get in our normal flow, we’ll let their participation be our guide and the quality of their work in terms of us making decisions about whether to utilize them or how often we utilize them.”

Mike Tomlin updates TJ Watt, Damontae Kazee’s returns from IR
Two Steelers — T.J. Watt and Damontae Kazee — are working their way back off the injured reserve and Tomlin updated their statuses, as well. He said they’re both participating, but it’s still unclear when they’ll make their way back onto the field.
“Both guys have been participants and like the others who are managing some injury circumstances, we’ll continue to monitor those guys,” Tomlin said. “We’ve been optimistic about their inclusion this week. But again, we’ve got some work ahead of us and got some reaction to that work, how they feel coming off of that work, etc. We’ll just continue to monitor those guys and make appropriate decisions regarding them as we get closer to game time.”
