It was a frustrating season for Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel. Now, his future there is up in the air. However, he may already be looking out for his next job.

According to a report by Jordan Schultz, Vrabel is interested in returning to the New England Patriots. That is a move that is pending the Patriots making a decision about the future of legendary head coach Bill Belichick. There are rumors that the two sides will split, but that hasn’t happened yet.

Still, Vrabel does make sense for New England. He played for Bill Belichick during the early periods of the dynasty. During that time, he won three Super Bowls and was a key piece on the Patriots’ elite defenses of the time period. A member of the Patriots All-2000s team, he was in New England earlier this season to be elected into the New England Patriots Hall of Fame.

Mike Vrabel was the Coach of the Year in 2021 and has a 54-45 record in six seasons with Tennessee but has failed to make the playoffs for two straight seasons. He also, notably ended Tom Brady’s tenure in New England with a playoff loss.

The coach who replaces Bill Belichick will likely never be able to live up to his legacy no matter how successful they are with the Patriots. Belichick has been with New England for 24 seasons and has a record of 296-133, including the postseason. He’s won six Super Bowls and taken the Patriots to nine Super Bowls.

At least, Vrabel would know the culture, often called the Patriot Way, that Belichick installed. He would know how to maintain and build upon it and he would understand how the players are used to getting coached.

For now, though, both coaches are under contract with their current teams. Until that changes, there won’t be movement with either of these coaches.

Atlanta Falcons ‘team to watch’ if Bill Belichick moves on from New England Patriots

One team to, reportedly, keep an eye on if Bill Belichick is on the move from New England is Atlanta. The Falcons moved on from head coach Arthur Smith shortly after the season ended and are looking to find a way to reset now.

“Bill Belichick is still the head coach in New England but the Atlanta Falcons are a team to watch if Belichick is available,” Dianna Russini reported. “They are interested, per sources.”

The Atlanta Falcons have never won a Super Bowl but did get a first-hand view of Bill Belichick winning one of his after infamously blowing a 25-point lead to New England.
