Carolina Panthers (3-7) running back Miles Sanders is considered day-to-day with a foot/ankle injury, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Sanders, carted off the field in the first half of this past Sunday’s 20-17 Week 10 victory over the New York Giants (2-8) in Munich, could miss “a little time” with the injury. The Panthers are on bye in Week 11.

Sanders, in year two of a four-year, $25.4 million deal he signed with the Panthers in March 2023, has rushed for 139 yards and one score on 3.9 yards per carry. Brought in to be the team’s starting tailback, Sanders lost his job to Chuba Hubbard early last season and has had a limited role in the offense since.

Hubbard, the league’s No. 3 leading rusher, signed a four-year, $33 million extension that runs through 2028 this past Thursday. The Panthers also selected Jonathon Brooks in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Miles Sanders role uncertain with rookie RB nearing return

Brooks, who tore his ACL during his final season at Texas, has yet to make his Panthers debut. Carolina added him to its 53-man roster last week, and he will likely be on the field when the Panthers come off their bye and host the Kansas City Chiefs (9-0) in Week 12.

Head coach Dave Canales explained why Brooks didn’t suit up against New York.

“Took in a lot of factors, watched him progress throughout the week and really just felt like it wasn’t time yet,” Canales said. “And so, now we have two weeks before we play our next game, to be able to just get him in tip-top shape. And we gotta, again, see where Miles [Sanders] is at. But then we can make the decision going from there.”
