The Carolina Panthers released its second injury report of the week, and there is some good news for Miles Sanders. The veteran running back is dealing with a finger injury but was a full participant at practice on Thursday.

While Sanders looks ready to play in the Panthers’ season opener against the New Orleans Saints, the team could be without two tight ends on Sunday. Ian Thomas (calf) and Tommy Tremble (hamstring/back) did not practice for the second straight day. The two other players listed on the injury report are offensive lineman Yosh Nijman (tibia) and cornerback Troy Hill (heel), and both were limited participants at practice on Thursday.

Sanders suffered the finger injury during practice on Wednesday when he hit on a helmet. At the time, Sanders said he was going to get the finger looked at by the medical staff, but it looks like he’ll be ready to go on Sunday.

In March of 2023, Sanders signed a four-year $25.4 million contract with the Panthers after spending four seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles. He played in 16 games with five starts during the regular season and rushed for 432 yards and one touchdown on 129 carries.

“I don’t think nobody did me wrong,” Sanders added. “I just didn’t like how last year went. That’s all. I’m not blaming nobody but myself. I’m just ready to play. I’m ready to have a better season.”

The Panthers are facing a Saints team that is dealing with multiple injuries. Cornerback Marshon Lattimore (hip) was a full participant in practice on Thursday after being limited on Wednesday. Linebacker Peter Werner (shoulder) was also a full participant, and the two limited participants were linebacker Willie Gay Jr. (back) and offensive lineman Nick Saldiveri (calf).

The Saints have five players who did not practice on Thursday. Those players were linebacker Jaylan Ford (hamstring), tight end Dallin Holker (ankle), linebacker D’Marco Jackson (calf), defensive tackle Khalen Saunders (calf) and wide receiver A.T. Perry (hand).
