Minkah Fitzpatrick is all about the details. And when he got tired of seeing footprints on the Pittsburgh Steelers’ logo in the middle of the locker room, he did something about it.

Fitzpatrick actually roped off the logo to keep others from stepping on it. And it’s that type of attention to detail that he says means a lot.

“I’m very, very big on the details,” Fitzpatrick told ESPN. “I think that something as small as keeping our logo clean, it’s simple, but it means a lot at the end of the day.”

Fitzpatrick is about to enter his fifth year with the Steelers and seventh in the NFL. Prior to his arrival in Pittsburgh, the former Alabama star spent two seasons with the Miami Dolphins.

The goal for Pittsburgh in 2023 is to get back into the postseason and become a legitimate contender for a Super Bowl in the near future. Roping off a logo in the locker room isn’t exactly the bath to a championship, but it represents something bigger in Fitzpatrick’s eyes.

That attention to detail in every aspect of the game can help lead to greater things. At least, that’s the idea behind it.

Fitzpatrick has flourished in his four years in Pittsburgh. He’s been a three-time Pro Bowl and first-team All-Pro selection through his first four seasons. Last year, he was the NFL’s interceptions co-leader, picking off six passes.

Patrick Peterson makes guarantee for Steelers debut

Perhaps Fitzpatrick’s attention to detail and Patrick Peterson’s confidence will help the Steelers get back to the playoffs. Although Peterson is new to Pittsburgh, he’s strolling in with a lot of faith in his ability.

Peterson said on the All Things Covered that he believes he can get an interception against Brock Purdy this weekend. While he gave head coach Kyle Shanahan plenty of credit for running a solid offensive system, he says he can still pick up on some tendencies.

“There is some tell signs out there that tells us what plays we’re gonna get from those guys in certain situations,” Peterson said. “When I get my pick Sunday we’ll talk about it.”

That’s a bold statement for Peterson, but he does know a thing or two about getting interceptions. Over the course of his 12-year NFL career, he’s collected 34 picks, returning two for touchdowns.

Can Peterson deliver? We’ll find out when Pittsburgh takes on San Francisco to open the 2023 regular season on Sunday.
