Minnesota Vikings waive 2022 first-round pick Lewis Cine
NFL roster cuts were made on Tuesday, with teams required to get down to 53-man squads. A few surprising decisions have already been made ahead of the 2024 season, with one of the biggest being made by the Minnesota Vikings.
Minnesota is waiving safety Lewis Cine after just two seasons with the organization. Cine is a former first-round pick after playing his college football at Georgia.

Cine was selected with the final pick on Thursday night in the 2022 NFL Draft, going No. 32 overall to the Vikings. He has just 10 games of experience under his belt, with four coming his rookie season and the next five coming in 2023.
A leg injury occurred in Week 4 against New Orleans as a rookie, ending his first NFL campaign. Cine sustained the injury while on the punt coverage team. He returned in time for the season opener in 2023 before being a frequent inactive not playing in 10 games.
The lone tackle of Cine’s career came in Week 17 against the Green Bay Packers, playing his only eight defensive snaps of the year. An assisted tackle was recorded.

Minnesota decided to carry five safeties on the initial 53-man roster and Cine did not make the cut. Cam Bynum, Josh Metellus, Theo Jackson, Harrison Smith, and Jay Ward will play the position moving forward for the Vikings, who begin the regular season Sept. 8 against the New York Giants.
Minnesota Vikings decided to waive quarterback Matt Corral
Matt Corral was hoping to make a name for himself in the NFL with his latest opportunity in Minnesota after he inked a contract with the Vikings following the season-ending injury rookie QB J.J. McCarthy suffered.
Unfortunately, it seems as if the fit wasn’t a solid one, as the franchise decided to cut the former Ole Miss quarterback on Monday, following the conclusion of the NFL Preseason. Now, Corral will once again be on the open market.
The #Vikings made their first wave of cuts, including waiving QB Matt Corral and releasing veteran CB A.J. Green III,” Tom Pelissero of NFL Network posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.
