An MMA fight from Friday night between Josiah Harrell and Mike Roberts could’ve resulted in a serious injury when a cage door busted wide open during the event. Fortunately, no serious injuries were sustained.

In an attempt to take down Roberts, Harrell rushed his opponent and slammed him into the door. But instead of holding up, the door popped open and both fighters landed outside the octagon.

The incident occurred during LFA 160. The fight between Harrell and Roberts was the main bout on the card for the night. Below is the video:

Not to overstate the obvious, but MMA is a pretty dangerous sport as it is. But seeing a door bust open during a fight can cause even more concern. Fortunately, both Harrell and Roberts were OK after the malfunction.

Harrell defeated Roberts in a unanimous decision and maintains a perfect 7-0 record. Roberts has now been defeated in back-to-back fights.

Wild things happen at MMA fights

There’s no shortage of action during an MMA fight — whether it comes inside the octagon or in the crowd. During a recent UFC event, things got a little out of hand in the crowd, causing quite a scene.

Fans got a little unruly during UFC 289 in Vancouver, Canada. Several individuals were involved in an all-out brawl at the venue, causing video of the situation to go viral.

Thankfully, no serious injuries were sustained, according to UFC president Dana White. He did say that there were some minor ones, though. Regardless of injury status, it was an ugly scene for the fans involved.

But, if there’s one funny (or positive) takeaway from the fight among the fans at UFC 289, it stems from one individual placing a high importance on his adult beverage. One fan can be seen grabbing his drink and getting the hell out of the way while the others engage in a brawl.

We’re guessing those drinks aren’t cheap, so he made the smart play by protecting the beverage. Even in the midst of chaos, some people maintain a level head.

Although a few unruly individuals caused a scene, it was an overall strong turnout for UFC 289. The event drew 17,628 fans. The popularity of the sport in Vancouver was so great that it sounds like White has every intention of making a return to the city — perhaps frequently.

“Vancouver is always going to be a destination,” White said, per Daily Hive.
