Just before the 2022 NFL Draft got underway, it was reported that former Georgia Bulldogs defensive end Travon Walker was involved in a recent car accident. On Tuesday, TMZ released more details on the accident involving Walker.

The crash occurred on April 16 in Athens, Georgia, where Walker lost control of his vehicle before crashing into two other vehicles, both of which were parked with no occupants inside. The accident took place at around 11 p.m. in a 35 MPH zone. According to TMZ, the accident report said that Walker was not drinking, was not tested for alcohol or drugs, and was not cited. He also was not injured in the accident. His car was towed and was disabled in the crash, though.

Walker totaled 33 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, and six sacks last season for Georgia in 13 games. In his three-year collegiate career, he had 61 tackles with 13 tackles for loss and 9.5 sacks with one interception and one forced fumble.

Contract details for Walker after NFL Draft selection

Walker was selected with the first overall pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday night in the opening round of the NFL Draft. His athleticism is something that attracted the Jaguars were looking for, and they got it by selecting him with the first pick. Walker climbed up NFL Draft boards over recent months, and now he surpassed everyone as the first player off the board.

Now, Walker becomes a focal point of a Jaguars defense that is looking for wholesale improvements after a disappointing 2021 season.

Following his NFL Draft selection, contract details were released for Walker with the Jaguars. He should sign a four-year contract that is worth $37.3 million. The deal includes a $24.6 million signing bonus and also has a fifth-year team option, as all first round picks have. Walker will count $6.8 million per season against the salary cap, and his deal will be fully guaranteed once signed.
