Najee Harris injury update: Steelers release Wednesday practice report
The Pittsburgh Steelers released their first injury report for Week 7 on Wednesday, and running back Najee Harris is dealing with an injury. The report states that Harris did not practice due to injured ribs. The rest of the Steelers’ injury report includes safety Damontae Kazee (DNP, ankle), linebacker Nick Herbig (DNP, hamstring), center Zach Frazier (DNP, ankle), linebacker Alex Highsmith (limited, groin) and running back Cordarrelle Patterson (DNP, ankle).
Tight end MyCole Pruitt is also on the injury report with an injured knee but was a full participant. Four other players — linebacker T.J. Watt, offensive lineman Isaac Seumalo, defensive lineman Cameron Heyward and defensive lineman Larry Ogunjobi did not practice on Wednesday but are not injured as they were resting.
Losing Harris for the Steelers’ Week 7 game against the New York Jets would be a big blow for the team who is coming off a 32-13 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders. In Sunday’s game, Harris had his best game of the year, rushing for 106 yards and one touchdown on 14 carries. The Steelers hope Harris and a few other players on the injury report can work their way back into action this week.

Will Najee Harris be ready to play on Sunday?
“Some of these other guys, we’re going to watch their participation during the course of the week and let their participation be our guide in terms of their potential availability,” Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said, per the team’s official website. “(Cordarrelle) Patterson as he works his way back. Really optimistic about Alex Highsmith working his way back. (Damontae) Kazee, (MyCole) Pruitt or some others that will be getting at least a limited amount of work at the top part of the week and letting it pick up based on what transpires and then considerations from there as we go.”
Harris has been a consistent running back for the Steelers since the team drafted him in 2021. The former Alabama Crimson Tide star has rushed for over 1,000 yards and scored at least seven touchdowns in each of his first three seasons. In May, the Steelers declined the fifth-year option on Harris’ contract, making him a free against after this season.
