The off week is gone and behind us and now we have 20 weeks of racing ahead. It all starts at the Ally 400 this weekend at Nashville Superspeedway. As NASCAR descends on Music City once again, there are drivers that need big performances. There are others that need to keep doing what they’ve been doing all season long. This is the first step on the final stretch to the playoffs.

Since the Cup Series has only been racing at Nashville Superspeedway for what is its third season now, there isn’t a lot of data to go by. However, we can look at the last two years and notice a bit of a trend. Kyle Larson and Chase Elliott both won at Nashville in the last two years. What is to stop Hendrick Motorsports from getting another win?

However, a lot has changed, even since last year. We are seeing fewer drivers win this season and a top group really solidify themselves. Could there be a surprise winner at the Ally 400?

It turns out, Vegas and the folks at Bet MGM think Kyle Larson is the favorite. Larson is slated at 5-1 odds. He leads a couple of veteran drivers in the list of favorites. Martin Truex Jr. follows in the Ally 400 odds at 7-1. Meanwhile, Kyle Busch is right there at 15-2 odds.

These three drivers have seven points race wins combined this season. If you include the Busch Light Clash and All-Star Race, that makes it nine race wins between them.

Truex Jr. leads the NASCAR Cup Series standings heading into the Ally 400 and will try to extend that lead. The Kyles are poised for big performances as well. All three should be considered championship contenders.

As we look down the Ally 400 odds, we have a group of three drivers tied for fourth. Vegas thinks that William Byron, Denny Hamlin, and Chase Elliott all have even odds to take the checkered flag. At 17-2 odds, they aren’t far off from that lead group of three.

Nashville Superspeedway has been good to Hendrick. So it makes sense that Byron and Elliott would be included here. Elliott was the winner of the race last season and really needs a win to save his season.

Denny Hamlin, on the other hand, has had a good season as well. He let a win or two slip from his fingers, but he bounced back in the last two weeks. A P2 at Gateway paired with his pole award at Sonoma shows that Hamlin still has plenty of speed.

Will we see the drivers that flourished at intermediate tracks keep that same speed at Nashville? Or will we see the short-track racers take advantage of the unique racing that happens at Music City?

Don’t count out a big comeback performance from Ross Chastain who is at 11-1 odds for the Ally 400. He joins Larson as the only drivers to finish in the top-5 in each of the last two seasons at Nashville. He could really use a strong finish.
