Ally chief marketing officer 'literally in tears' after Alex Bowman snaps 80-race winless streak at Chicago
Alex Bowman’s victory in the Chicago Street Race meant the world to a ton of people, from the crew at Hendrick Motorsports, to the team at Ally.
When Jimmie Johnson retired, many wondered if Ally would remain with Hendrick Motorsports, as the keys sponsor on the No. 48 Chevrolet. Bowman quelled the sponsor’s fears, becoming the face of the brand in NASCAR, cultivating a tremendous relationship between the driver and the sponsor.
So much so that Ally’s Chief Marketing Officer, Andrea Brimmer, shared that she was moved to tears when Bowman snapped his 80-race winless streak on Sunday evening.
“I’m literally in tears,” Brimmer, Ally’s Chief Marketing Officer, posted on X, formerly known as Twitter. “@Alex_Bowman has been battling so hard. This team so deserves it way to go @allyracing I love you guys!!!!”
As you can tell, Bowman’s relationship with Ally goes above and beyond the normal requirements for a driver and a sponsor. The No. 48’s success is a true team effort, and their victory in Chicago was a tremendous feat.
The victory meant everything to Bowman himself, as well. The Hendrick Motorsports star has been subject to criticism due to his lack of trips to Victory Lane over the last two and a half years.

Perhaps the floodgates will open for Bowman now, as he utilized an impressive drive to get the win in Chicago. Afterwards, while speaking with the media, the No. 48 wheelman fired back at critics who openly wondered whether he was worthy of his seat.
“Man, let me tell you about how great NASCAR is to us drivers. I got to my hotel room, there’s a little box with my name on it, that had a bottle of bourbon in it, so that’s in my bag. I’m pretty excited about that,” Bowman explained, following the race. “But I’ve got a couple bottles, that were bought early in 2022, that were like, ‘The next win, we’re going to drink these,’ and they’ve been sitting on the counter way too f—ing long.
“So yeah, everybody that said I couldn’t win and don’t deserve to be at Hendrick Motorsports and all that bulls—, cheers to you.”
Moving forward, Alex Bowman, with Ally at his side, will be looking to secure all the playoff points he can to give the No. 48 team a shot at a title in 2024. He’s reminded everyone why he was chosen for his seat at Hendrick Motorsports, and now it’s all about building on the success he attained in the Windy City.
