NASCAR announces format for 2024 Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum
NASCAR has announced the format for the 2024 Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum in Los Angeles ahead of the highly-anticipated event.
Excitement is growing as we sit just a couple weeks away from NASCAR’s return to the limelight. The Clash will take place during the weekend between NFL Conference Championship Weekend and the Super Bowl, on Feb. 4.
Check out the format for the event, as NASCAR created a beautiful infographic to help fans understand, and Kelly Crandall of RACER shared it to X (formerly known as Twitter).
As you can see, NASCAR will bring back heat races to determine where drivers will start for the event, along with a last chance qualifier race. Each heat race is 25 laps, and the last chance qualifier race will be 75.
Then, the main event will be 150 laps to the finish, with the winner starting their season off with a bang in 2024.
All the small intricacies can be found on the infographic, but the real meat and potatoes of The Clash remains the same from recent seasons. It should be another awesome event, as NASCAR looks to establish a firm place in the sport fan’s life moving forward in 2024.
Machine Gun Kelly announced as race break performer at Busch Light Clash
Moreover, the musical performer during the race break at the Busch Light Clash will be Machine Gun Kelly. NASCAR announced the news Sunday afternoon. Fans in Los Angeles and watching at home will see the rapper-turned-rockstar perform at the halfway point of the Clash.

NASCAR has turned this preseason exhibition into an entire event. There is a prerace and mid-race concert. It is in the LA Coliseum for goodness sake – this is just as much about the fanfare and show than it is about racing on the track.
This is also where we see NASCAR get more creative with their music choices. This is a choice made to attract a new, younger crowd. Machine Gun Kelly and NASCAR – together at last.
The Busch Light Clash has been a fun event the last two years. We think last year’s performances were solid. Wiz Khalifa was exciting and it felt like NASCAR was really trying to do something new.
It will be interesting to see who else NASCAR has at the Busch Light Clash. It has become an event where celebrities and other notable folks in LA have popped up. Who will we see this year?
