The NASCAR Busch Light Clash is returning to the LA Memorial Coliseum in February 2024. This will be the third year at the venue. On top of a return to the historic stadium, the NASCAR Mexico Series is set to race on the quarter-mile track prior to the Cup Series exhibition.

With the return of the Busch Light CLash, NASCAR is clearly trying to expand the footprint of its international series. Adding a race from the Mexico Series is a great idea and should be popular with fans in the area.

Bob Pockrass of Fox Sports reported on Twitter/X about the news. It will be on February 4, 2024. Make sure you mark your calendars, folks.

With the return to LA Memorial Coliseum, we aren’t going to get a “real” Cup Series race. This year, the drivers decided that they could just play bumper cars to pass on the very small track. There’s a reason why this isn’t a points race, after all.

However, you can’t buy the exposure that having a race in Los Angeles brings. Having it at the Coliseum adds another bit of intrigue. From a production standpoint, NASCAR improved a lot from Year 1 to Year 2. Now as we head into the third year, it looks like they want to expand the Busch Light Clash.

There are some real up-and-coming drivers in the NASCAR Mexico Series. It gives me a feeling about how another international race might play out.

Busch Light Clash helping expand international interest

While many don’t think about NASCAR Mexico, it is a series that has shown some promise in recent years. We might not be seeing it now, but there are young drivers in Mexico who are using that series to hone their skills while also running part-time races when they can in the Truck Series or ARCA Menards Series.

Max Gutierrez is a driver to watch for in the Truck Series. He was a full-time Mexico Series driver in 2021, finishing 4th overall in the season as a teenager. Perhaps we will see another young driver or two show off their skills at LA Coliseum.

However, all of this makes me think of the possible Montreal race. Is there a plan for NASCAR to add the Pintys Series to the lineup if they can get the race on the schedule? Better yet, will we see a Pintys driver step up to the Cup Series in a one-off and test their skills against the best?

I have enjoyed the incorporation of different drivers lately. From Travis Pastrana at Daytona to Jonathan Davenport at Bristol Dirt, SVG at Chicago, etc. – it has been fun. Finding new faces and personalities to put into the sport is good for the sport and its growth.

The NASCAR Busch Light Clash is back again at LA Coliseum, with a twist. Are you looking forward to the 2024 season already?
