The NASCAR Cup Series will return this weekend after a two-week hiatus, with a second trip to Richmond Raceway on the docket for Sunday.

Back on Mar. 31, Denny Hamlin captured the win at Richmond in controversial fashion, as he jumped the restart and took advantage of his teammate Martin Truex Jr. in the process. It propelled him to a win, and Truex Jr. was more than unhappy, but Hamlin was never chastised for the move afterwards.

Now, the Cup Series returns to Richmond with only a couple of weeks until the playoffs. Drivers like Truex Jr. will be looking for their first win to lock themselves into the dance, and FanDuel Sportsbook has provided us with the full betting lines for Sunday’s race, so we can see who the true competitors are.

Denny Hamlin (+500)

Denny Hamlin enters the second race at Richmond for the Cup Series as the prohibitive favorite, and it’s within good reason. He’s looking to sweep the season series, and capture his fourth win of 2024 in the process.

This will be the 36th time Hamlin has raced in the Cup Series at Richmond. It’s been one of his best tracks, as he has five victories at the track. Perhaps No. 6 is on the docket for this weekend. FanDuel believes so.

Christopher Bell (+500)

Christopher Bell is among the top contenders for the win entering the Cook Out 400. Earlier this season at Richmond, the Joe Gibbs Racing wheelman finished P6 on the evening in Virginia.

This will be Bell’s ninth start at Richmond. He’s never won at the track in the Cup Series, but he did finish as the runner-up in 2022. Maybe he’ll break through the glass ceiling and win this time around.

Martin Truex Jr. (+650)

Martin Truex Jr. was pissed off at Denny Hamlin, to say the least, after the first race at Richmond in 2024. Still, he came home P4 on the evening, but he certainly didn’t expect to still be winless during the Cup Series return to the track.

This is the 37th time Truex Jr. will race at Richmond, and it could be the final time. As he continues his retirement tour, the Joe Gibbs Racing wheelman will be looking for his fourth win at Richmond on Sunday.

Kyle Larson (+700)

Kyle Larson had an eventful evening at Richmond in March. He came home P4, and he was the target on Martin Truex Jr.’s misplaced anger after the race, but the duo have since let bygones be bygones.

This weekend will mark the 20th time Larson will drive in the Cup Series at Richmond. He’s won at the track in the past, in 2017 and 2023, so he’ll be looking for his third victory on Sunday.

Ryan Blaney (+1300)

Ryan Blaney struggled the first time the Cup Series went to Richmond in 2024. He finished P19 in an adventurous drive, but he’s since returned to his consistent form over the course of the summer.

As Blaney suits up at Richmond for the 17th time, he’s never had much success at the track. He only has one top ten, with a best finish of P7. He’ll be hoping for wholesale changes this weekend.

Joey Logano (+1300)

Joey Logano almost stole a win during NASCAR’s first trip to Richmond in March. The Team Penske wheelman came home P2, which would serve as his best finish until his victory at Nashville later in June.

The two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion will be racing at the track for the 31st time on Sunday. Logano has two wins there, so there’s a precedent for him finding Victory Lane this weekend.

Chase Elliott (+1400)

Chase Elliott was able to muster a top five at Richmond in March. The No. 9 wheelman came home P5 on the evening, a solid effort for the Hendrick Motorsports star in Virginia.

Elliott’s never won at Richmond in 16 tries, so perhaps No. 17 will be the lucky one. He does have a runner-up finish though, and he generally runs well at the track, so there’s some reason to think he’ll exceed expectations.

William Byron (+1700)

William Byron came home P7 on the evening in Richmond earlier this season. After starting the 2024 campaign with a torrid pace, he’s fallen off a bit throughout the summer, but he’s looking to return to form as NASCAR gets back underway.

Bryon’s never won at Richmond in 12 tries. His best finish of P3 came in 2022 though, and he’s steadily improved at Richmond each season. Maybe he’ll add a new trophy to his collection on Sunday.

Betting lines for NASCAR Cook Out 400 at Richmond continued:

  • Zane Smith (+28000)
  • Harrison Burton (+28000)
  • Ty Dillon (+28000)
  • Daniel Hemric (+50000)

It’ll simply be nice to have the NASCAR Cup Series back this weekend, and the fact that we’ll receive a doozy of an event at Richmond is the cherry on top. FanDuel believes Denny Hamlin is the favorite, but there will be stiff competition looking to keep the No. 11 from Victory Lane for the fourth time in 2024.
