NASCAR drivers hilariously try to draw Chicago Street Race Course

Before NASCAR hits the streets of Chicago, the folks at NBC put the drivers up to the task of having to draw the course itself from memory. Granted, these drivers have not raced on the track except for some simulator and iRacing runs. So, of course, things got hilarious and off the rails pretty quickly.

You know, there is a really good reason why these guys are NASCAR drivers and not artists. While some of the rivers were able to remember the course pretty well, others just kinda doodled around and had fun with it.

On one hand, you have Christopher Bell figuring it out almost perfectly. Then you have Denny Hamlin and his…horse? This NASCAR Chicago Street Course is going to give guys fits.

Maybe Bell can help Hamlin out with his drawing skills back at the JGR shop?

You know, after seeing Denny Hamlin draw a horse for the course, I’m just going to be happy for him if he finishes this race. On his Actions Detrimental podcast, Hamlin admitted he struggled with the simulator and iRacing. Turn 4 in particular gave him fits in his virtual runs on the course.

Kevin Harvick also seemed to be a bit pessimistic about the NASCAR Chicago Street Race. I’m sure you won’t wreck in ALL of those corners, Happy. After the first hit in the wall, the toe link will be toast anyway, so don’t worry about multiple wrecks.

NASCAR takes over Chicago

There really has been all kinds of pomp and circumstance around the NASCAR Chicago Street Race. With all of the work that has been put into the race, we should have a good product in one way or another. The fact that the thing is actually happening is amazing enough.

NASCAR in Chicago has pulled out all of the stops. There are going to be some amazing concerts. While everyone is freaking out about The Chainsmokers, I’m jealous I won’t be there to watch Charley Crockett perform.

Then you had an incredibly successful Bubba’s Block Party for all kinds of new and old fans. It was a big party with Bubba Wallace and the 23XI Racing team showing out and putting on a good time. Not to mention NASCAR drivers were singing “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” at Wrigley Field on Thursday night.

Despite concerns about locals not accepting the event, street closures, and all the negative aspects that were brought up – things seem to be going well. NASCAR is taking over Chicago and it all culminates in Sunday’s Cup Series race at 5:30 PM EST on NBC.
