NASCAR Garage 56 car looks All-American on the track at Le Mans
When NASCAR announced they wanted to put a car into the 24 Hours of Le Mans, no one knew what that would look like on the track. Now, the Grage 56 Chevy Camaro has made its way to the course and it looks All-American compared to its peers. It is apparently turning in some great times early, as well.
Pretty much all of the world’s great auto manufacturers are in France for the famed endurance race. This is a place that loves motorsports and engineering. Jimmie Johnson, one of the Garage 56 drivers, got a very warm welcome.
It was also Johnson who took the NASCAR Le Mans entry and went out to pass the first on-track test. The real story is just how American this car looks. You have the slick-looking entries that look like the next step in Formula 1 or some other kind of precision racing series.
Then, you’ve got this big, bulky, and fast Camaro. It’s badass!
The thing is, Jimmie Johnson is still Seven-Time even in France. There was a wild reaction to Johnson being at Le Mans. With all of the attention, he might as well be in the infield at Daytona.
Jimmie Johnson still a NASCAR star in Le Mans
According to early reports from NASCAR, Johnson and his team are being welcomed with open arms. Of course, Mike Rockenfeller and Jenson Button will also be piloting the NASCAR Le Mans entry. Garage 56 has a lot of hands on deck.

“The atmosphere is insane,” Johnson said after his first day. “I was chatting with someone yesterday, a fan, that said Americans have always been loved at Le Mans. He said our reputation is very accommodating, hospitable, very kind to the fans.”
The fans were out in full force in France and they loved getting to meet Superman. In all of the chaos, Johnson didn’t know if he was more awe-struck by the scenery or if the fans were more awe-struck by him.
“I signed a 2006 championship hat someone had,” Johnson said, via NASCAR. “Even diecast cars, all this different NASCAR stuff.”
Stock cars, even in Le Mans, people love them. There is just something about NASCAR that is so different from every other motorsport. Hopefully, the NASCAR crew at Le Mans can come away with a satisfactory result.
