NASCAR insider casts doubt on Corey LaJoie landing full-time Cup Series ride in 2025
Here we are in 2025 and it does not appear that Corey LaJoie is going to have a full-time NASCAR Cup Series ride. A new wrinkle has put LaJoie on the outside looking in.
Corey LaJoie spent the last seven races last season at Rick Ware Racing. He had a decent showing, but nothing eye-catching. It was expected that RWR would give him a chance to race in 2025, but that door appears shut.
Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports recently answered a fan question about LaJoie. Cody Ware, according to Pockrass, is the expected driver for the No. 51 in 2025.
“Corey LaJoie is still working on his 2025 plans but not expected to be full time in the RWR No. 51 in 2025. Cody Ware appears to be the likely driver of that car.”
Don’t forget Rick Ware is leasing a charter to RFK Racing. That car is now the No. 60 with Ryan Preece in the seat. So, RWR only has one full-time, chartered car. With Cody Ware able to race again is it shocking to see his dad give him the seat? No.
Corey LaJoie definitely didn’t do what he needed to do at Spire to stay on. He is a driver who can take care of equipment, he had 0 DNFs in 2023 but hasn’t taken that next step up in speed at most tracks.

Where will Corey LaJoie land in 2025?
Right now, it’s hard to see Corey LaJoie having any kind of full-time Cup Series schedule in 2025. That doesn’t mean we won’t see him in the Cup Series or out of NASCAR.
I could see LaJoie racing for MBM Motorsports or Beard Motorsports or maybe even NY Racing if they need a driver. But is that what LaJoie wants to do at this point in his career? Why not drop down to the Xfinity or Truck Series?
In one of the two lower series, I think LaJoie has his best chance at showing what kind of driver he is. We know he’s charismatic and good with sponsors and tough and a legacy driver in the footsteps of his father. What can he do on the track though?
The only problem for Corey LaJoie as far as 2025 is concerned is the fact it is January 2025. Even the good Xfinity and Truck Series seats have been taken at this point. Where does that leave him this season? Things don’t look promising for LaJoie.
