Tyler Reddick pulled off an incredible last-lap maneuver to clinch his spot in the Championship 4 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

The No. 45 wheelman capped off an all-time race on Sunday by passing Denny Hamlin and Ryan Blaney on the final lap, riding the wall and shocking the motorsports world in impressive fashion. He sent Michael Jordan and the rest of the 23XI Racing team into disbelief, as the checkered flag waved for the ascending wheelman.

It’s a moment that’ll live on for quite some time, as NASCAR insiders Jeff Gluck and Jordan Bianchi explained on this week’s episode of The Teardown, the latter claiming Reddick’s move will be what defines him as a racer when he decides to hang up his steering wheel, which hopefully won’t be for quite some time.

“To have a finish like this, where a driver on older tires and somehow makes the move into turn three in a move that, you know, Ryan Blaney afterwards was like, ‘I don’t know how he did it.’ Tyler Reddick doesn’t know how he did it,” Bianchi stated. “To pull that off is remarkable, and it’s going to be the signature moment, likely going to be the signature moment in Tyler Reddick’s career when you look back and say, ‘What defied Tyler Reddick as a driver?’ You’re going to look back at this last lap today and say, ‘That is Tyler Reddick as a driver in a nutshell.’

“He drove it in there, despite the circumstances on older tires, threw down this huge Herculean lap and passed not one, but two drivers on the last lap, and stuck his car into turn three on older tires at Homestead, and pulled it off. Like, that’s incredible. That’s something you play in a highlight reel. That is the signature moment on a highlight reel when your career is over.”

Alas, Reddick needed a miracle to get into the Championship 4, and he made one happen in Florida over the weekend. Now, if he’s able to cap off his season with a victory at Phoenix and lock up his first NASCAR Cup Series title, the move he made on Sunday will take on a new life, as well.

Time will tell if he’s able to get the job done, but what Tyler Reddick did at Homestead-Miami was more than remarkable, and with the victory, he’s continuing to prove his mettle as one of NASCAR’s best.
