NASCAR insider reveals contingency plan if Bristol Truck Series race is rained out

This weekend, the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Bristol kicks things off. Well, that is, if the rain doesn’t ruin Friday night. There is a relatively high chance of rain at Bristol tomorrow during the day.
The silver lining for the Truck Series is the fact that the chance of rain goes down at night. With a green flag time of 7:30 PM ET planned for tomorrow, is it possible to get the track cleared of rain and ready to race on time?
Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports has reported on the contingency plan for Friday night. In case the race gets rained out, Truck Series teams were told to prepare to race on Sunday. NASCAR will have the triple header at Bristol one way or another.
“While nothing finalized, truck teams [have] been told to prepare, if race gets postponed, to race Sunday (timing tba, logistically have to get trucks impounded/haulers moved outside track and teams don’t need to sweat hotels for Friday night).”
Good news: we know that Bristol Motor Speedway has lights. I mean, the Truck Series is racing at night anyway. If it isn’t too late into the night, why not wait a little bit and race into the late Tennessee night?
The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series took a break for a week. They are back tomorrow at Bristol. Hopefully, we can get through the weekend without rain and weather problems. It sounds like NASCAR believes there is enough time on Sunday, at least, to have this tripleheader weekend.

NASCAR Bristol weekend
This weekend, the NASCAR circus is putting on shows for all three series. Truck, Xfinity, and Cup. The Last Great Colosseum awaits these warriors of the stock car world. Last year for the Cup race we were all given quite a surprise.
The last two weeks, Denny Hamlin has been the talk of the town in the Cup Series. Dominated at Martinsville for an old-school short-track thumping. Then he went and stole the win at Darlington with a stellar final pit stop from his pit crew.
Bristol put on a hell of a race last year by accident. The cool temperatures a year ago during this weekend are mostly likely to blame. But tires were shredded. Rubber didn’t get put down into the track, it was being turned into dust particles and laying up against the wall of the track.
Sunday will be in the 60s at Bristol. That should be warm enough to make the tires behave. Still, it might be a Denny Hamlin threepeat if he keeps up the short track strength he has shown this year.
