Front Row Motorsports and 23XI Racing have filed a lawsuit against NASCAR, but could more teams take legal action? Jordan Bianchi of The Athletic talked about that on The Teardown podcast and said it’s not likely additional teams will join the Front Row and 23XI lawsuit.

“There’s been some talk of maybe could we see some other owners maybe join this lawsuit, even the ones that have signed. I cannot speak for all 13, but I can say we talked to Brad Keselowski this week and he indicated that he didn’t anticipate his team joining that lawsuit,” Bianchi said.

“From the owners I have talked to and I’d have to go through the number or the team executive, right now I have not encountered a team that is open to that possibility. Not saying it’s not going to happen. Who knows, people change their mind or whatnot, but I would say that is one thing over the course of this week as you’re really having face-to-face conversations with people and ask that question. I haven’t encountered anyone yet who may go down that road.

More on the lawsuit against NASCAR

Front Row and 23XI filed an antitrust lawsuit against NASCAR last week, accusing the organization and CEO Jim France of “unlawful monopolization of premier stock car racing in order to enrich themselves at the expense of the premier stock car racing teams.” The lawsuit stems from Front Row and 23XI opting not to sign NASCAR’s final charter proposal at Atlanta Motor Speedway in September.

After the lawsuit was filed 23XI co-owner and NASCAR star Denny Hamlin said: “But you know in the end it’s because you’re threatening you know, the status quo and you’re threatening people’s jobs and things like that. And I just hope that it’s not seen that way, just seeing that, you know this is certainly an opportunity for us to try to promote change in the sport that’s positive for everyone.”

“That’s teams, drivers, fans, everyone. And so I feel like certainly on our end it’s actually been good for me because this, you know, this is not like we just decided one day, we woke up and this is going to happen. This has been on the plate for a while and certainly from my standpoint it allows me actually more relief to focus on the 11 car and you know everything I’ve got to do there because it’s out it’s done and now there’s other people able to speak on it from the legality standpoint.”
