NASCAR insider reveals expected future plans for Rajah Caruth, JR Motorsports

Rajah Caruth has impressed enough in two seasons of full-time competition in the Truck Series that there’s been speculation he could make the jump to the Xfinity Series in 2025.

Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports push the kibosh on that idea Tuesday.

“Things still fluid but would expect another full year of trucks for Caruth,” Pockrass wrote on X.

Pockrass issued the update in response to a fan question after news broke that Brandon Jones will return to Joe Gibbs Racing in 2025 following a two-year stint with JR Motorsports. Rather than Caruth getting an Xfinity Series seat with JR Motorsports, Pockrass said the team is working on finding funding for Carson Kvapil, who has raced part-time in NASCAR this season.

Caruth, 22, currently drives the No. 71 Chevy Silverado for Spire Motorsports. After finishing 16th in the points standings in his debut season, Caruth sits 10th in 2024 through 17 races. Caruth took his first Truck Series checkered flag at Las Vegas in March. He finished 18th in the playoff opener at The Milwaukee Mile on Aug. 25.

Caruth clearly has a bright future in NASCAR, but it appears he will continue to get further seasoning in the Truck Series before making the jump to the Xfinity Series.

“I think I just try to focus on myself because it’s also easy for myself I think, to compare to others,” Caruth told Jonathan Howard of 5GOATs earlier this year. “I may have not had the same opportunity, or things may have not fallen out for other people and vice versa. So, it’s hard not to compare but I’ve just been trying to stay in my own lane and be present of the fact that I’ve got a ride.

“I think last year I kind of, I don’t want to say took it for granted, but I think was always focused on the next thing. And not really realizing that this… Nothing further in the future is guaranteed, but I have this chance. So, that’s kind of the mentality I’m taking to this year.”
