NASCAR insider reveals latest on Season 2 of ‘Full Speed’ Netflix show

For those waiting on Season 2 of NASCAR: Full Speed on Netflix, it is coming soon. There may even be extra surprises for fans. The first season of the show was very successful and attracted a lot of new viewers to the sport for the first time.

Kelly Crandall of RACER and ESPN has an update for fans about the NASCAR Netflix show. There are still a few unknowns about Season 2.

NASCAR: Full Speed brings the excitement of the playoffs to Netflix. Last year we had the first season of the show before the Daytona 500. This time, the show is airing around the time NASCAR will be heading into the spring/summer swing on Prime Video and TNT.

I am no marketing professional nor do I work in television. But my thinking on this is that a preseason release works for many reasons. Does it translate to more viewers early in the year? Hard to say. NASCAR has been doing very well with ratings this season without it.

Perhaps by delaying it until April, Netflix and NASCAR are angling for a different effect. This will be right after March Madness and sports fans will be looking for something to watch. The Cup Series is a lot more thrilling than golf, even if it is The Masters.

Give people a reason to watch NASCAR. Give them a reason to stay focused on the season instead of checking out until the playoffs. Hopefully, it also helps fans get ready for the new media partners in Prime Video and TNT Sports.

Kelly Crandall noted that there are more details to come regarding NASCAR: Full Speed on Netflix. But what could they be? It feels like there isn’t much more to add to the show. Maybe Netflix is already looking forward to a Season 3?

The only downside to this series is the timing. It follows the final 10 races of the season, the playoffs. But that will be almost six months ago by the time the new season is streaming. We’ll almost be halfway through the regular season for THIS year.
