Kevin Harvick is all for the idea of Kyle Larson attempting to run the Indianapolis 500 and Coca-Cola 600 in the same day again in 2025.

Of course, it didn’t work out for Larson on Memorial Day earlier in May, as Mother Nature had other plans for the Hendrick Motorsports star. Rain caused the Indianapolis 500 to start later in the afternoon, and after Larson was finished in Indiana, he tried to get to Charlotte for the end of the Coca-Cola 600, but rain ruined that plan, as well.

On the latest episode of Harvick’s Happy Hour, Harvick explained why even more eyes would be on Larson attempting the feat again in 2025, especially after his victory in the Brickyard 400.

“That wasn’t a hint. He can back pedal all that he wants, and we had Kyle Larson on with our victory lap this week, he could back pedal all that he wants, he said he’s going to come back, wants to come back and kiss those brakes on the front straightaway at the at the Indy 500, and I’m here for it,” Harvick said. “I think everything that Kyle Larson does in racing, some people get a little annoyed with everybody talking about Kyle Larson, but he races more than anybody on earth, and he’s successful in everything that he does, and I like watching Kyle Larson race, and do things that other people don’t do. I think it’s great for our sport. It’s not only great for our sport, it’s great for racing. I want to see him back at the Indy 500.

“I’d love to see him run a race before hand. I’d like to see him run one of the ovals, at some point because they do some of those doubleheaders. … Just do it. Skip practice. He doesn’t need practice.”

As you can tell, Harvick’s wish isn’t far-fetched, as Larson himself has admitted to wanting to run The Double again in 2025. Now, it’s up to Hendrick Motorsports and company to figure out what needs to be done.

“I don’t know. I don’t know. I mean, we’ve definitely been talking about it, and I think weighing, you know, what’s important, to everybody. So, it sounds good, I’ll say, so far, but things could change,” Larson told FOX’s Bob Pockrass, regarding The Double in 2025. “So, yeah, we’ll see. I would obviously love to do it. I think everybody knows, that I would love to do it, because in my mind, I did not get to do it this year. I didn’t get to, at least do The Double.

“So yeah, I hope that the pieces can fall into place, and we can hopefully get things put together, and announce something, and you know, get excited about doing The Double next year.”

Hopefully Mother Nature provides Kyle Larson with the weather needed to pull off the accomplishment, as the former NASCAR Cup Series champion completing The Double would be something to behold, especially after the bad luck he suffered in 2024.
