The Enjoy Illinois 300 is almost here and that means it is time to take a look at the field of cars and pick out the best paint schemes of the week. Unfortunately, the NASCAR weekend doesn’t feature a ton of great and original designs.
I think that racing at Gateway has been solid the last two years. Of course, Kyle Busch put on a dominating display that started with the pole and ended up two stage wins and the checkered flag. He did it in a great 3CHI paint scheme, too.
There are some repeats this week. I try to not do that, but at times, you can’t help it. The Enjoy Illinois 300 isn’t a major race, so teams don’t really pull out the fun designs. We have made do with what they gave us, though!
Brad Keselowski No. 6 Solomon Plumbing Ford
![](https://on3static.com/uploads/dev/assets/cms/2024/05/30164335/Brad-Keselowski-Solomon-Plumbing-Ford-1024x538.jpg)
Coming to the track with Solomon Plumbing, this is another solid RFK Racing design. Brad Keselowski and his organization know what they like and they always make sure you know you’re looking at an RFK car when you see it.
Solomon has been on the car for some of Keselowski’s best looks in the last two years. This is no different. Not amazing, but really solid. Especially in a week with a weak pool. 8/10.
Chase Elliott No. 9 NAPA Auto Parts Chevy
![](https://on3static.com/uploads/dev/assets/cms/2024/05/30164341/Chase-Elliott-NAPA-Auto-Parts-Chevy-1024x538.jpg)
Now this one has made an appearance maybe for the third time this year? Sorry if that’s tired, I just love this Chase Elliott paint scheme. This one for the Enjoy Illinois 300 is a bit different, though.
Elliott has Rain-X on the back of the car and that is a fun addition to this car. Really great scheme and a nice change from his usual NAPA looks. 8.5/10.
Derek Kraus No. 16 Kafka Conveyors Chevy
![](https://on3static.com/uploads/dev/assets/cms/2024/05/30164347/Derek-Kraus-Kafka-Conveyors-Chevy-1024x538.jpg)
At the very least, Derek Kraus has interesting paint schemes, I guess? It’s hard to really call any of them particularly good but he has his moments.
I think this is a solid-looking car. Not my favorite, but this week it is going to make the list because there are so many primary schemes or just plain bland designs. 7/10.
William Byron No. 24 Valvoline Chevy
![](https://on3static.com/uploads/dev/assets/cms/2024/05/30164416/William-Byron-Valvoline-Chevy-1024x538.jpg)
This is a great paint scheme for William Byron. Valvoline really came through this season. Honestly, my favorite Byron scheme of the season.
When it comes to grading this one, I’m not sure I can put it above Elliott. With this week not being spectacular, I think I’ll give it the same grade and have both be the top scheme of the week. Fair? Fair. 8.5/10.

Michael McDowell No. 34 Siteman Cancer Center Ford
![](https://on3static.com/uploads/dev/assets/cms/2024/05/30164404/Michael-McDowell-Siteman-Cancer-Center-Ford-1024x538.jpg)
When did blue and yellow become Michael McDowell’s colors? Between this car and last week’s Walmart scheme, it’s been common recently.
This is a solid sponsorship, always love seeing teams work with hospitals and other medical facilities. It also looks pretty good. I like it. 7.5/10.
John Hunter Nemechek No. 42 Bommarito.com Toyota
![](https://on3static.com/uploads/dev/assets/cms/2024/05/30164352/John-Hunter-Nemechek-Bommarito.com-Toyota-1024x538.jpg)
Red and black on a race car is usually going to look good. That is true in this case as well. John Hunter Nemechek could use a good race in the Enjoy Illinois 300.
Bommarito is a good sponsor, they are involved with NASCAR in a few ways. Nemechek brings them to the Cup Series this week and hopes to get a good finish. 7/10.
Ricky Stenhouse Jr. No. 47 Kroger Health/Oikos Chevy
![](https://on3static.com/uploads/dev/assets/cms/2024/05/30164410/Ricky-Stenhouse-Jr.-Kroger-Health-Oikos-Chevy-1024x538.jpg)
Now this is a paint scheme I can get behind. If you’re going to advertise on a NASCAR racecar, then use the whole car. Oikos gets it.
Ricky Stenhouse Jr. has been in the news a lot lately thanks to his fight with Kyle Busch. Will that translate to any success on the track? The Enjoy Illinois 300 is his next test. 8/10.
Justin Haley No. 51 MotoRad Ford
![](https://on3static.com/uploads/dev/assets/cms/2024/05/30164358/Justin-Haley-MotoRad-Ford-1024x538.jpg)
MotoRad has a pretty rad paint scheme for the Enjoy Illinois 300. Justin Haley has had a good year and a really solid season of sponsorship.
This red and white design is fun and looks fast. Complete with the Rick Ware yellow rims, it’s a complete look. 8/10.
