NASCAR Paint Schemes of the Week: Short track racing at Martinsville

How about some real short-track racing, folks? Martinsville is up next on the NASCAR schedule and we have a fun group of paint schemes. This track is one of the oldest in the sport and will be a proving ground as one of the most important races of the playoffs later this season.
The Cook Out 400 will give us a different style of racing. In the fall, the Xfinity 500 last season was one of the best short-track races and Martinsville races of the Next Gen era.
NASCAR has worked hard to get the tires right on short tracks. Maybe that will produce another solid race this weekend? Sunday has a high chance for rain. That means we could see wet weather tires used once again.
Ross Chastain No. 1 Choice Privileges Chevy

A familiar sponsor but a new look! Ross Chastain is bringing this really fun paint scheme to Martinsville for the NASCAR weekend. The touch of chrome orange around the No. 1 is great.
Choice Privileges has had solid designs in the past. This might be my favorite from them overall. 8.5/10.
Noah Gragson No. 4 A&W Root Beer Ford

Nothing beats the classic colors of A&W Root Beer. I’m surprised that Todd Gilliland isn’t in this design given his family’s history with the brand.
Noah Gragson has had great paint schemes this season. Front Row continues to have the contingency sponsors on the cars and that is also fantastic. 9/10.
Kyle Busch No. 8 Lucas Oil Chevy

One of my favorite paint schemes. Kyle Busch is bringing the blue and old Lucas Oil Chevy to Martinsville. Busch has not been great at Martinsville in the Next Gen era.
Lucas Oil is not just a Busch and RCR partner but is also a major Xfinity Series sponsor. Great design, recognizable, and will look great on track. 8.5/10.
AJ Allmendinger No. 16 Black’s Tire Chevy

Black’s Tire is back in NASCAR once again this season. AJ Allmedinger is hoping to have a good run at Martinsville after a solid weekend at Homestead.
Allmendinger is coming off of back-to-back top-10 finishes. However, Martinsville is not a track that he has had a lot of success at in recent years. Good looking car, though. 7.5/10.
Chris Buescher No. 17 Kroger/Old El Paso Ford

This car looks even better in person. RFK Racing has posted multiple things on social media about it. Chris Buescher has four top-10s, including a P5 at Phoenix.
Right now, Buescher sits 9th in the points standings. He has had a quietly good year but has not led a lap in six races. Buescher has a career best of P8 and only two top-10 finishes ever at Martinsville. 8.5/10.
Riley Herbst No. 35 Lucy Toyota

It feels like there isn’t a nicotine pouch not involved with NASCAR besides the big one, Zyn. Zone, Grizzly, and now Lucy are all in the sport.

Riley Herbst has had growing pains early in his rookie season. He does have four finishes of P19 or better. A good pick up for sponsorship, though. 7.5/10.
Tyler Reddick No. 45 Mobil 1/O’Reilly Auto Parts Toyota

Ever since Mobil 1 brought back the Pegasus design, it has produced so many great designs. This one is no different for Tyler Reddick.
Together with O’Reilly Auto Parts, Mobil 1 is bringing another hot car to the track. Martinsville hasn’t been great for Reddick in recent history, either. 8/10.
Ryan Preece No. 60 Fastenal Ford

Black and blue – Ryan Preece has been the surprise of the year early in the season. Who saw him having this much success this early with RFK Racing?
Besides Josh Berry, is Ryan Preece having the best season of all the former Stewart-Haas drivers? He’s only five points behind Chase Briscoe at JGR and 12 behind Berry with his one win. 8.5/10.
Casey Mears No. 66 Canter Power Systems/Coble Enterprises Ford

A familiar face in a new car. Casey Mears and Garage 66 changed their primary sponsorship for this race THIS WEEK. Days before practicing the car at Martinsville the NASCAR team had to change plans.
Coble Enterprises and Canter Power Systems are on this car for the weekend. This is likely one of multiple starts for Mears in the Cup Series this year. 7/10.
Michael McDowell No. 71 Rockingham Speedway Chevy

Now this is a paint scheme I can get on board with! Rockingham is hosting Xfinity and Truck Series for Easter Weekend. That reunion deserves all of the marketing and promotion.
Michael McDowell would love a strong run this NASCAR weekend at Martinsville. I love this black and white paint scheme for its simplicity, but it is also eye-catching. 9/10.
