NASCAR announces suspensions for Kyle Busch, Chase Briscoe crew members after Las Vegas

NASCAR has suspended two pit crew members from the teams of Kyle Busch and Chase Briscoe. Each driver lost a tire during the Cup Series race at Las Vegas over the weekend.
On Busch’s team, crew members Joseph Moser (jackman) and Shiloh Windsor (tire changer) have been suspended for the next two races. That will sideline them this weekend at Homestead and the following week at Martinsville.
On Briscoe’s team, it’s crew members Caleb Dirks (jackman) and Daniel Smith (tire changer) who have been suspended for two races. They’ll also miss through Martinsville.
Busch lost his wheel during the second stage of the Pennzoil 400.
The driver of the No. 8 car was riding the outside lane when his right rear wheel got loose. It came off and Busch slid into the outside wall, bringing out the caution flag as a result.
“It’s broke, it’s done, the brake pedal is done,” Busch told his team, per Davey Segal of SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. Busch made it to pit road without his right rear wheel and tire.
After losing the wheel, Busch and his No. 8 car were sent to the garage for repairs. With the incident, NASCAR handed him a two-lap penalty.
For Briscoe, meanwhile, the mistake occurred during the first green flag pit stops of the day. It was a busy pit cycle, with speeding penalties that sent drivers to the back of the field.

In fact, Busch was one of the drivers that was caught up by the NASCAR caution that came out after Briscoe lost his wheel. He sped on pit road, incurring a penalty.
He was not happy about it either. Over the radio he talked about his lights and it was clear that he felt he did what he had to in order to abide by pit road speed. NASCAR felt differently.
“That’s insane,” Busch said on the radio, via Matt Weaver of Sportsnaut. “I never saw a blue light down pit road. I’m on page 3.”
Richard Childress Racing’s No. 8 team wanted to dispute the penalty. However, they complained over the radio that there was no chance to do so, Toby Christie reported.
Now both teams are dealing with a two-race suspension for a couple of crew members. A tough break, to be sure.
