The NASCAR Cup Series took their campaign to Nashville Superspeedway over the weekend, and the playoff standings and Cup points have been shaken up due to the result of the Ally 400.

In a shocking twist, Joey Logano was able to end his winless-streak, capturing a win and locking himself into the playoffs for 2024. It hasn’t been the best season for the two-time Cup Series champion, but now he’ll have the opportunity to win his third title, due to his win on Sunday.

Of course, a win from Logano didn’t exactly help the drivers on the bubble of the playoff standings at the moment. Bubba Wallace, Chase Briscoe, Kyle Busch and Josh Berry didn’t want to see Logano get to Victory Lane, and it’s had a profound effect on their standing, as well.

In addition to Logano going from the bubble to P9 in the playoff standings, we also have a new top dog in the Cup Series, as Christopher Bell overtook Kyle Larson on Sunday. He’s only up on the No. 5 by on playoff point, but the Joe Gibbs Racing wheelman is proving he’s a force to be reckoned with in 2024.

Meanwhile, Kyle Larson entered Nashville tied with teammate Chase Elliott in the Cup standings, but the No. 5 gained a sizable advantage over the No. 9 after the race. He now leads by 20 points, even after being involved in multiple wrecks at the end of the Ally 400. Not a bad days work for the former champion.

Alas, that Ally 400 was certainly an entertaining race, featuring some incredible action, a rain delay and multiple overtimes to cap it all off. Joey Logano wasn’t exactly the betting favorite, but the No. 22 got the win, and now he’s locked into the playoffs moving forward. That’s how fast a season can be turned around.
