NASCAR playoff standings, Cup points updated after Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Sonoma Raceway

NASCAR has updated its playoff standings and Cup points after the Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Sonoma Raceway in Sonoma, California. This was the 20th race of the regular season, meaning six races are remaining before the playoffs.
Shane van Gisbergen won the race and now has three victories this year. Here’s a look at the updated playoff standings and Cup points after the Sonoma Cup Series race.
NASCAR Playoff standings updated after Sonoma
Van Gisbergen is one of the four drivers who have won three races this year. It has led to him being in third place in the playoff standings behind Denny Hamlin and Kyle Larson.
Bubba Wallace and Ryan Preece are battling for the final playoff spot, as three points separate the drivers. Kyle Busch finished in the top 10 at Sonoma and is looking to make a push to reach the postseason.

NASCAR Cup points after the Sonoma race
Chase Elliott continues to pursue William Byron for the top spot in Cup points. Byron only leads Elliott by 14 points with six races remaining in the regular season.
While van Gisbergen is on top of the playoff standings, he’s near the bottom of Cup points. He is in 26th place and is six points behind Zane Smith and Carson Hocevar.
