NASCAR postpones Xfinity Series United Rentals 300 amid constant rain at Daytona

Despite finding a window to get Xfinity Series qualifying in today, the rain would not let up for NASCAR to get the United Rentals 300 on the track. The race will now be postponed until Monday at 11 AM. Hopefully, not a sign of things to come for the Daytona 500.

In qualifying, Jesse Love took the pole in his Xfinity debut. The rookie is hoping to have a massive season following his 2023 ARCA Menards Series championship. It didn’t look like there would even be qualifying today, but at least a window opened up for that.

Now, NACSAR is going to hold onto hope that there is another window big enough for a race. The track will have to be dried tomorrow and then have time enough to get at least half of the race in, making it official. So, 11 AM on Monday, see you there for the United Rentals 300.

NASCAR worked quickly to get the Xfinity Series qualifying session finished. There was a small window and thanks to a new attitude towards schedule changes, we did get through the single round.

Jesse Love is going to sit on the pole for the United Rentals 300. The rookie takes the pole in his Xfinity Series debut. RCR claimed the front row completely with Austin Hill going P2 in qualifying. Could be a major Monday for this organization kicking off 2024.

United Rentals 300 will make a little history

Another interesting storyline for Monday’s race, there are two women in the field. This is the first time since 2014 that two women will compete in an Xfinity Series race at the same time. That race ten years ago was in Kansas, where Jennifer Jo Cobb and Milka Duno made the field.

Hailie Deegan and Natalie Decker both made it in qualifying. Deegan would have been fine more or less no matter what happened. However, Decker really had to sweat it out to make the United Rentals 300.

The sport is growing and that means more drivers that don’t look like your typical driver of yesteryear. Women have been in NASCAR for decades and in motorsports in general, but they are getting more opportunities now and better opportunities.

With AM Racing Deegan is hoping to make some noise this year in her rookie season. Meanwhile, Decker is trying to prove that she deserves more starts on the track. Both of them are good for the sport and have earned their way, in their own ways.
