As the NASCAR Cup Series returns to Atlanta Motor Speedway on Sunday for the Quaker State 400, the Round of 16 will officially get underway.

One of those 16 looking to start their playoff campaign off with a win is Daniel Suarez. The Trackhouse Racing wheelman captured the win in Georgia back in February, edging out Ryan Blaney and Kyle Busch to clinch his spot in the dance. Now, he’ll look to make it all worthwhile, back at the site where he celebrated a couple of months ago.

Even though it’s the beginning of the playoffs, NASCAR doesn’t stop the rest of the field outside the Top 16 from racing each weekend. While they won’t have a shot at the title, they’ll be hoping to put a bow on their season with a win, at least. DraftKings Sportsbook kept that in mind, as they provided the full betting line for Sunday’s race.

Ryan Blaney (+1000)

An early incident ruined Ryan Blaney’s evening in Darlington. The Sun couldn’t even set before Blaney’s time in the Southern 500 would come to an end, and that meant a P37 finish for the No. 12 in South Carolina.

Earlier this season, Blaney lost in one of the closest finishes in NASCAR history at Atlanta, a bittersweet runner-up drive in February. He’s only finished outside the top ten once since 2020 at Atlanta, so the Cup Series playoffs couldn’t be starting at a better track for the reigning champion.

Kyle Busch (+1000)

Kyle Busch turned it up a notch the last couple of weeks, but he wasn’t able to get to Victory Lane and overcome his troubles that plagued him throughout the 2024 campaign. Still, back-to-back runner-up finishes is impressive for the No. 8 team, as the veteran rounds into form.

Now, what’s on the line for Busch is his winning streak, which almost spans two decades. He has ten more opportunities to get to Victory Lane in 2024, and if the last couple of weeks are any indication, he’s going to be tough to compete against, even if he’s out of the playoffs.

Joey Logano (+1000)

Perhaps no contender in the playoffs has had a more uneven season than Joey Logano. After looking like an afterthought over the first couple of months in 2024, Logano has turned it up a notch, and his P8 finish at Darlington lends credence to that thought.

As the playoffs begin on Sunday, this will be Logano’s 22nd attempt to get to Victory Lane in Atlanta. His first win at the track came in 2023, so there’s reason to believe the No. 22 can start his chase for his third title with a bang this weekend.

Brad Keselowski (+1100)

Brad Keselowski couldn’t sweep the season at Darlington, but he had a solid race in South Carolina. The RFK Racing wheelman came home P14, and now he’s preparing for a shot at his second Cup Series title.

The quest begins at Atlanta for Keselowski, a track he’s raced at 19 times. Could No. 20 be the charm? He has two prior wins, but the last one in Atlanta came back in 2019, when Keselowski was with Team Penske in the No. 2 Ford.

William Byron (+1200)

A former winner at Darlington, William Byron was hoping to return to Victory Lane in South Carolina. Unfortunately, the 2024 Daytona 500 winner ran out of luck in the Southern 500, and he finished P30 on the finale of the regular season.

As the playoffs begin, Byron has to be smiling at the idea of starting in Atlanta. The No. 24 wheelman has propelled himself to Victory Lane twice since 2022 at the track, and he’s performed admirably in Atlanta over his ten prior starts.

Chase Elliott (+1200)

Chase Elliott kept fighting throughout the evening in Darlington, and it ended up working out well for the No. 9. While the Hendrick Motorsports star hasn’t been able to return to Victory Lane since his win at Texas, Elliott has been a model of consistency, proven by his P11 finish over the weekend.

Atlanta has always brought a home field advantage to Elliott, as much as what can be gained in the Cup Series. The No. 9 had a special victory at the track in 2022, and Elliott will be hoping there’s more where that came from as the Round of 16 begins this weekend.

Kyle Larson (+1400)

Kyle Larson looked incredible at times during the Southern 500, but he wasn’t able to secure another victory at Darlington. Still, a P4 is far from anything to scoff at, even if it left him one point behind Tyler Reddick for the regular season title.

As the chase for his second Cup Series title begins, Larson will have to fare better at Atlanta than he’s done in the past. The favorite for the title in 2024 hasn’t finished above P31 in his last three attempts at the track.

Denny Hamlin (+1400)

Denny Hamlin was looking to return to Victory Lane to cap off what’s been a tough summer for the No. 11 team in the Southern 500. While he couldn’t get to the top spot, Hamlin still finished P7 on the evening, which could signal a changing of the tides for the driver’s luck ahead of the playoffs.

Moving forward to Atlanta, Hamlin has won at the track once in 29 tries. Earlier this season, he was caught up in an accident in Georgia, finishing P23 in February. He’ll be hoping for better luck this time around.

As you can tell, Atlanta has become a wide open track when it comes to picking a winner, in the same vein as Daytona and Talladega. The race back in February was an incredible one, and this weekend’s iteration should be another doozy, as the Cup Series playoffs finally get underway in 2024.
