NASCAR releases trailer for documentary about return to Bowman Gray Stadium

NASCAR released a trailer for an upcoming documentary to get fans ready for the Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium on Feb. 2. The Madhouse: NASCAR’s Return to Bowman Gray Stadium will explore the “rich and rollicking history of the venue while weaving a narrative that focuses on preparations for The Clash at Bowman Gray,” according to the press release.

Fox Sports reporter Tom Rinaldi narrates the documentary, and there will be exclusive interviews with NASCAR’s Jim France and Ben Kennedy along with notable figures such as Leonard Wood and Chocolate Myers, as well as Bowman Gray standouts Burt Myers, Jason Myers and Tim Brown.

The Madhouse, produced by Fox Sports Films and NASCAR studios, will premiere on Monday, Jan. 27, on FS1 at 7 p.m. ET. This is one of two documentaries produced by the two entities as So Damn Close: Atlanta ’24 will debut on FS1 on Thursday, Feb. 13 at 10 p.m. ET.

“We’re thrilled to team up with FOX Sports to explore the rich stories of these two events,” John Dahl, NASCAR senior vice president of content, said in a statement. “It’s the first time the NASCAR Cup Series has been at Bowman Gray in over half a century, and last year’s race in Atlanta was historic in its own right. Our team at NASCAR Studios has enjoyed diving into these projects to help give them the attention they deserve.”

NASCAR is ‘going back to The Madhouse at Bowman Gray Stadium’

In August, NASCAR announced the Clash would be moved to Bowman Gray Stadium, becoming the first NASCAR-sanctioned race at the track since 1971.

“We’re going back to The Madhouse in Bowman Gray Stadium,” Ben Kennedy, NASCAR executive vice president, chief venue & racing innovation officer said at the time. “Bringing our Cup Series back there for the first time since the 1970s, it’s going to be another historic event. I’d say in a lot of ways, this is going to be an opportunity to celebrate our roots, our history and celebrate our NASCAR regional series.”

Kennedy added, “This is the next evolution of The Clash for us. One of the areas where we feel like there’s an opportunity for us to continue to switch it up and go to new markets and new venues is an exhibition race like The Clash.”
