An interesting new project from NASCAR could soon be announced. NASCAR appears ready to launch a 24/7 channel. A job posting online points towards a possible streaming service or subscription TV channel.

NASCAR has released job postings online seeking a new Manager of Content Programming to help build a new 24/7 content channel. When asked for comment, NASCAR declined to comment but confirmed the job posting is real.

The posting refers to the new channel as “NASCAR Channel” which may remind some race fans of the classic SPEED channel.

“This person is responsible for leveraging NASCAR’s extensive portfolio of new original-content and historical video archives to program the NASCAR Channel (FAST),” the posting reads. “The manager will work to optimize consumption to help grow the emerging digital platform and manage the day-to-day functions of the channel.”

There will be a programming schedule set up for the 24/7 channel. It appears that this channel will rely on new, original content as well as classic archived footage.

Of course, NASCAR has been growing its digital footprint in the last two years. NASCAR Studios will be assisting with the Xfinity Series production next year. That facility could very well be part of this new FAST channel. But there isn’t enough information about the channel at this moment and what they ultimately want to do with it.

NASCAR Channel looking at streaming platforms

Again, all we have right now is the job posting. But it does reveal a lot about the potential new 24/7 channel. From the duties included and the experience required for the position advertised, NASCAR is looking for someone that can help them make this a real TV product.

One of the duties listed:

“Manage the program scheduling system to input and communicate the live on-air schedule, ensuring all programs and partnership inventory air as scheduled, and overseeing VOD content options for the digital streaming platforms.”

If they can start to produce original content at a high level, then I think it can be very successful. We are in a time of niche TV and media options. Race fans are dying for a SPEED channel to return, especially with FOX ending NASCAR: Race Hub.

Are you ready for a 24/7 NASCAR Channel? NASCAR has big plans it appears.

If they have a studio and the ability to produce high-quality content, then they should do more in-house coverage. Podcasts, shows, and historic races all in one place sounds like a win-win for the sport and fans.
