The Round of 8 begins this weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. What do the odds say for the South Point 400 this year? We’ll get into that. A year ago, it was a drama-filled NASCAR event as Bubba Wallace and Kyle Larson got into on the track and in the infield after wrecking.

Will we see the same level of intensity and drama as a year ago? We can only hope. The hot desert heat mixed with the passions of these NASCAR Playoff drivers can produce fireworks. I’m not sure we are going to see anything like a year ago between Wallace and Larson, but hopefully, we get a great race.

The South Point 400 odds from BetMGM have a stand-alone favorite. Funnily enough, it is Kyle Larson himself. At 9-2 odds, the bookmakers expect him to get a little redemption and to win this race. Larson is currently doing his rookie orientation for the Indy 500.

In my opinion, if Larson wins here or at Homestead-Miami and makes the Championship 4, he will be the champion.

Following close behind Larson are William Byron and Denny Hamlin at 11-2 odds. Two more championship favorites, Byron won this race to start the season. Hamlin has a great record on intermediate tracks this season. Expect them to be in it to the end.

Tyler Reddick and Martin Truex Jr. close out the top-five in the South Point 400 odds at 15-2. Reddick could make a massive move and win this race. He and others will try to replicate what Joey Logano did a year ago by winning Vegas and focusing on Phoenix for three weeks.

The rest of the Round of 8 drivers are Christopher Bell 11-1, Ryan Blaney 13-1, and Chris Buescher 16-1.

South Point 400 odds, potential playoff spoilers

Here is a very interesting wrinkle in the NASCAR Playoffs picture. After the Roval, Martin Truex Jr. advanced in the driver playoffs, but not the owner points. He is now out of the team championship race as Chase Elliott advanced, among others.

Chase Elliott is listed at 15-1 odds and could be a massive spoiler in these playoffs. He looked like he would go on to win at the Roval until he got turned off his tire strategy.

Another driver to watch is the recently eliminated Kyle Busch. It would not shock me to see him have a complete race at Vegas. Rowdy will be in his hometown and likely be a bit upset after elimination last week. At 13-1 odds, keep an eye on him, too.

So, the South Point 400 odds are clear. Kyle Larson is the man everyone else is chasing. Right now, it looks like he is in a position to make a run for the championship.
