NASCAR suspends both Chris Hacker and Jason White for separate DWI arrests

Following the news that Chris Hacker and Jason White had both been arrested for DWI, in separate incidents this month, NASCAR has suspended both drivers. Hacker and White both face court dates in September for their charges. They had both run a part-time schedule in the Xfinity and Truck Series this season.
NASCAR has chosen to suspend both drivers indefinitely for the DWI incidents. According to Jeff Gluck of The Athletic, Jason White did not report his arrests within the required window set by NASCAR guidelines.
NASCAR has made similar decisions in the past for DWI incidents involving drivers.
Chris Hacker was arrested by Huntersville Police and charged with DWI, Speeding, Reckless Driving to Endanger, and Failure to Wear a Seat Belt. Hacker’s license has been suspended for 30 days and he has a court date set for September 19th.
The incident with Hacker occurred on August 15th just after midnight.
Meanwhile, Jason White was arrested by Huntersville Police on August 3rd just before 6 in the evening. Early in his career, White raced in the Cup Series twice. He was a regular in the Truck and Xfinity Series either on a full-time or part-time schedule. However, between 2014 and 2021, he wasn’t able to secure a ride.
On September 6, White is due in court.
According to NBC affiliate WCNC Charlotte, anyone convicted of DWI will have their license suspended for a minimum of one year after their first offense.

NASCAR suspends drivers for DWI arrests
While it isn’t common, this has happened in the past with other drivers. During this season, both drivers raced sparingly. This season, both Hacker and White at least tried to qualify for races in both the Truck and Xfinity Series. White failed to qualify in his Xfinity Series attempt at Talladega this season.
Earlier this season, Hacker made Xfinity Series starts at Richmond and New Hampshire. He was set to start at Watkins Glen for SS-Green Light Racing after replacing Katherine Legge due to sponsorship issues related to the WGA strike. However, following the arrest, Josh Bilicki will now make that start for the team.
White is the President of Motorsports for CMR Roofing. The company is a sponsor for Ryan Sieg and RSS Racing in the Xfinity Series. This past week in Indianapolis, the CMR Roofing logo was noticeably missing from the No. 39 Ford.
