As Front Row Motorsports looks to expand their NASCAR Cup Series footprint, they’re locking down one of their own for the foreseeable future, as they’ve inked Todd Gilliland to a contract extension.

The amount and length is unknown, but it’s evident Gilliland’s future with the team was important to team owner Bob Jenkins, especially after Michael McDowell chose to move to Spire Motorsports for 2025 and beyond. Now, Gilliland will likely become the face of the organization.

Check out the announcement below, as the news of Gilliland’s extensions dropped on Wednesday morning. The wheelman of the No. 38 won’t be moving anywhere, remaining with FRM.

While Gilliland only has one top ten and an average finish of 21.333 on the season, he’s shown his potential throughout the season, especially on super-speedways. He led for awhile during NASCAR’s trip to Atlanta earlier this season, and raced near the front for most of the Daytona 500.

Now, Jenkins and company will be hoping to see Gilliland take the next steps in his career, and grow into a driver who can contend for a playoff spot year-in and year-out.

“We’ve watched him grow, mature, and show all his potential behind our truck and car,” Jenkins stated, via FOX’s Bob Pockrass. “It’s now his time to lead us into our next phase of winning races and being a consistent playoff contender.”

At just 24-years-old, Todd Gilliland has immense potential, and he’s begun to show it with Front Row Motorsports. The team looks to be on the verge of taking the next step, and they’ll do so with the young wheelman leading the charge.

More on Todd Gilliland, Front Row Motorsports’ future

Moreover, Front Row Motorsports announced last week it has obtained a charter, and they will field three NASCAR Cup Series teams in 2025. FRM confirmed to Dustin Long of NBC Sports it purchased the charter from Stewart-Haas Racing, which announced it will shut down operations after the 2024 season.

“We have a very positive outlook on the future of NASCAR and as the sport plans for success, so do we,” FRM owner Bob Jenkins said in a statement. “Today that means having a plan for expanding back to three cars in the NASCAR Cup Series.

“I always have the vision to continue to grow and improve our team and that commitment and desire never changes. I am committed to the sport and its passionate fans and partners.”

Who exactly will be piloting the three Cup Series cars has yet to be decided. FRM currently operates as a two-car team with Michael McDowell in the No. 34 Ford and Todd Gilliland in the No. 38 Ford. McDowell is joining Spire Motorsports next season while Gilliland will obviously return. FRM also said it will continue its CRAFTSMAN Truck Series program.

FRM last fielded three Cup Series in 2019 with McDowell, David Ragan and Matt Tifft serving as full-time drivers. Chase Briscoe, Noah Gragson, Josh Berry and Ryan Preece are among the drivers looking for a new Cup Series ride in 2025 following the closure of SHR.
