Right now, the fight to remodel and bring NASCAR back to Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway continues with some new renderings. Bristol Motor Speedway is looking to take over operations of the second-oldest continually operating race track in the United States. That includes a massive remodel that would have the venue looking modern and new.

With the speedway being at the Nashville Fairgrounds, it is a decision that will have to be approved by the Metro Council of the city. Before these renderings, back in March, Bristol’s takeover of the track’s operations was approved. Now, they are showing off renderings that show a revamped venue inside and out.

Tennessee is a hotbed for racing and race fans. While Music City has the superspeedway, there are many people in NASCAR, drivers and executives alike, that believe Nashville is capable of hosting two races a year. So, if the remodel is approved, Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway is going to be one of the hottest tracks in NASCAR.

Bob Pockrass of Fox Sports has followed this story closely and shared images of the new plans on Twitter.

So, there is a process before any of this stuff gets approved. But if those images don’t get fans and the Metro Council excited I don’t know what will. After years of great NASCAR racing, it would be exciting to see it return. This would be an awesome new look for the track that still hosts SRX and ARCA Menards Series races.

Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway making a return?

With the Ally 400 this weekend, the NASCAR world is pretty much focused on Music City. Nashville has been a wonderful host over the years. Not just for the Cup Series but also for the Xfinity and Truck Series over the years. While Nashville Superspeedway will be the host this weekend, it could soon be Fairgrounds Speedway.

There is a lot of momentum around reviving old tracks. With how excited folks were to return to North Wilkesboro, I’m sure the Bristol Motor Speedway team is hoping to get a warm welcome when and if they return to the track for the Cup Series.

Nashville is a fun town and Tennessee loves NASCAR. You can see it at Bristol and you will see it this weekend at the superspeedway. Grandstand tickets sold out ahead of the weekend and it should be an amazing crowd for Sunday’s race.

I’m ready to see the new Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway.
