Summer is officially in full swing, which means trips to the pool, barbeques and, of course, NBA Summer League. Once a year, the NBA’s youngest stars meet in Las Vegas to showcase their talent while teams get an opportunity to evaluate their recent draft picks.

This year’s NBA Summer League features quite a few promising prospects such as the top three picks in Paolo Banchero, Chet Holmgren and Jabari Smith. Those players will mostly be focused on the court this summer, but Banchero, Holmgren and a few others still had time to discuss some of their favorite summer topics outside of basketball.

The NBA then compiled their responses to make a short video posted on Twitter.

Other players in the interview included former Arkansas center Jaylin Williams, former Purdue guard Jayden Ivey and former UCF big man Tacko Fall. Williams and Fall had hilarious answers when asked whether they preferred a hat or sunglasses, with both players basing their choice on the amount of hair on their head.

“Sunglasses, I can’t wear a hat,” Williams said smiling and pointing to the mop of hair on his head.

Fall, however, had quite the opposite problem.

“For me, I’m bald so the sun really hits my head,” the 7-foot-6 post player said. “So, yeah. I would say the hat.”

Players had many different answers to their favorite ice cream flavor, with Banchero picking cookies and cream while Holmgren opted for triple chocolate with brownie chunks and chocolate chips. When it came to the best barbeque side, however, the answer was nearly unanimous for mac and cheese.

“There’s great sides, but mac and cheese is a classic,” Banchero said. “It’s also the easiest to mess up, so you’ve got to be careful who you let cook it.”

The NBA Summer League tipped off Thursday in Las Vegas and will conclude with the championship game on July 17. So far three teams — The Knicks, Magic and Pistons — have a 2-0 record, but there are plenty of 1-0 teams right behind them. The action has been ongoing this Sunday, with eight games total to be played.
