NBA Trade Deadline: Davion Mitchell, PJ Tucker involved in Heat-Raptors deal
The Toronto Raptors are trading Davion Mitchell to the Miami Heat for PJ Tucker, a second-round pick and cash, per ESPN’s Sham Charania. The trade is part of the three-team deal that landed Jimmy Butler on the Golden State Warriors.
In the trade, the Heat received Andrew Wiggins, Dennis Schroder, Kyle Anderson and a protected first-round pick for Butler. Alas, the Heat immediately traded Schroder to the Utah Jazz, who sent Kyle Anderson to the Toronto Raptors.
Additionally, the Raptors received Brandon Ingram from the New Orleans Pelicans, in exchange for Bruce Brown Jr., Kelly Olynyk, one first-round pick and one second-rounder. The Raptors’ addition of Ingram likely influenced their decision to trade Mitchell.
This season was Mitchell’s first with the Raptors. He is averaging 6.3 points, 1.9 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game while shooting 43.4% from the field and 35.9% from beyond the arc. Mitchell’s 4.6 assists per game are a career-high.
Alas, Davion Mitchell has never been able to capture the scoring prowess he achieved in his rookie season when he averaged 11.5 points per contest for the Sacramento Kings. Mitchell will look to take a step forward as he enters the next chapter of his career.
While Mitchell’s career is still young, PJ Tucker’s is coming closer to an end. At 39 years old, Tucker has played for eight different NBA teams. Tucker hasn’t seen any action this season. The NBA trade deadline is today at 3 p.m. ET.

Specifically, the trade was a three-team deal between the Mavericks, Lakers and Utah Jazz. The Lakers received Doncic, Maxi Kleber and Markieff Morris from the Mavericks. Dallas acquired Anthony Davis, Max Christie and the Lakers’ 2029 first-round pick.
Meanwhile, the Jazz received Jalen Hood-Schifino, the LA Clippers’ 2025 second-round pick and the Mavericks’ 2025 second-round selection.
With Doncic averaging 28.1 points, 8.3 rebounds and 7.8 assists per game this season while shooting 46.4% from the field and 35.4% from 3-point range, most Mavericks fans are far from happy with the blockbuster trade.
Several of the Mavericks fans at the protest on Sunday let their frustrations be heard by writing obscenities about Dallas general manager Nico Harrison near the Dirk Nowitzki statue outside of American Airlines Center.
