NBC broadcast updates field conditions following lightning delay in Cowboys vs. Steelers
After a weather delay, Sunday Night Football has kicked off with minimal effect on the field at Acrisure Stadium.
NBC’s Melissa Stark provided an update on the conditions ahead of the start of the game between the Dallas Cowboys and Pittsburgh Steelers. Because of the type of sod that the Steelers use, the field has already cleared out much of the moisture and is now ready.
“I talked to the field operations for the Steelers. They told me they have zero concerns about the field conditions and that is because the base of the sod that they use is sand-based. It’s USGA, United States Golf Association, certified to help absorb and drain the water – much like on a golf course,” said Stark. “They said they redo the surface, put in brand-new sod three times a season. They did it right before the season began and will be doing it again next week.”
Even so, Dallas is still suggesting to their team that they wear better shoes for grip.
“Now, Mike McCarthy for the Cowboys is from this area and he said he knows how slick the grass can get so he is encouraging his players to wear longer studs on their cleats for better traction,” added Stark.
Sunday Night Football has finally started and, now that the storm has passed over, it shouldn’t affect it any further.

“You can see that I’m down here right now. There are no puddles. It is a little bit wet, a little bit slick but we’ll continue to be updated as the game progresses,” Stark said.
Celine Dion previews Cowboys-Steelers with hilarious, odd intro
Celine Dion is ready to see the Dallas Cowboys take on the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The legendary singer previewed the game tonight on Sunday Night Football. She talked about the game in a pre-game video and poked a little fun at the rivalry.
“Sometimes, some nights, it all just comes back,” Dion said in the video while wearing a Cowboys vs. Steelers Super Bowl XXX sweatshirt. “Their love affair, well, maybe not love the way I usually sing about it, but work with me here. I mean, when you touch me like this when you hold me like that, it kind of fits, no?
“But really, what beautiful passion it produced. What painful heartbreak it revealed so so long ago. Like so many old flames, it always feels right when they’re back together, don’t you think? Like tonight, evoking the kind of magic they once produced. The Cowboys and the Steelers, a timeless classic on Sunday night.”
