Nebraska vs. Illinois odds: Early point spread released, How to watch
Nebraska hosts Illinois in Week 4, opening Big Ten Conference play for both squads for the 2024 college football season.
The Huskers have been riding a wave of momentum heading into the matchup. They cracked the AP Top 25 poll for the first time in five years ahead of Week 3, and backed that ranking with a 34-3 win over Northern Iowa on Saturday.
For the Fighting Illini, they have a win over a then-ranked Kansas squad in Week 2, and have outscored their other two opponents 75-9 otherwise, including a 45-0 shutout win over Eastern Illinois during the season opener.
As both teams head into Week 4 undefeated, FanDuel Sportsbook released the early odds and point spread for the matchup. The Huskers are 8.5-point favorites at home over the Illini. The over/under point total is set at 46.5.

Much of Nebraska’s success has been credited to Huskers star freshman quarterback Dylan Raiola. He’s completing passes at a 73.8 percent clip (59 of 80) while throwing five touchdowns compared to one interception.
As impressive as Raiola has been, him being in Lincoln in the first place is a testament to what head coach Matt Rhule is building at Nebraska in his second season with the program. In each of his two previous stops as a college head coach, Rhule has been able to turn ailing programs in Temple and Baylor and turn them into perennial 10-win teams by year three.

He appears to be on the right track in Lincoln after finishing 5-7 and missing out on the postseason in 2023. One of those five wins was a 20-7 win over Illinois, a game in which the Huskers never trailed.
That game looked much different on the Nebraska end of things, as now backup quarterback Heinrich Haarberg threw for 154 yards and a touchdown.
They did see quite a bit of Illinois quarterback Luke Altmyer last season, holding him to one touchdown and forcing an interception against his 47 passing attempts to go with 289 yards through the air.
He’s impressed early in 2024, holding a 6-0 touchdown-to-interception ratio, including a four-touchdown performance against EIU in Week 1. Meanwhile, Nebraska’s defense has allowed two touchdowns total in three games. It’ll be interesting to see if they can shut the second-year Ole Miss transfer down under center in Week 4.
