Report: Mac Jones to miss multiple games with high ankle sprain
Not only did the New England Patriots drop a tough game against Baltimore on Sunday but their franchise quarterback, Mac Jones, went down with an injury. The second-year man had to be carried into the locker room, clearly suffering through the pain. Now, the ankle problem could be worse than they thought.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Jones is most likely going to miss “multiple” games for the Patriots this season. The high ankle sprain he suffered possibly could require surgery as well. No official decision has been made by either party but at this point, New England will be without their star QB.

“Patriots’ QB Mac Jones has what doctors diagnosed as a severe high ankle sprain that would cause many to have surgery, per sources,” Schefter said. “He is likely to miss multiple games. Jones and the Patriots still are discussing his options and the best way to proceed.
Jones had a rough day before his injury, throwing three interceptions. Prior to Sunday, the season was off to a solid start, having nearly 500 passing yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. Now, they will be without Jones for some time as Brian Hoyer takes over for the Patriots.
Mac Jones suffers injury vs. Baltimore
Jones left Sunday afternoon’s game against the Baltimore Ravens hobbling off the field after he threw an interception late in the fourth quarter. He couldn’t put weight on his left leg at all and went immediately to the locker room. Obviously, if the Patriots lose him, it’s going to be a massive loss for them and their season. The former Alabama star appeared to be in a lot of discomfort and pain as he was hobbling off the field and being carried into the locker room.

Against the Ravens on Sunday, Jones completed 22 of 32 pass attempts for 321 passing yards, while tossing in no touchdowns and three interceptions. He also had five rushes for 31 yards on the ground and one rushing touchdown.
Following the game, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported on Twitter that Jones had X-rays on his left ankle following the game and they were negative. The ankle will continue to be monitored.
On the play where the injury occurred, Jones was tackled by Ravens’ defensive tackle Calais Campbell, who rolled up on his back lower left leg as he went down. When the Patriots quarterback got up from the play, he was immediately hobbling on one leg and appeared to be in a severe amount of pain. He left the game with 1:56 remaining in the fourth quarter. New England lost to the Ravens by a score of 37-26.
