The New Orleans Saints are set to fly to Philadelphia tonight to interview Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore for their open head coaching gig, according to a report from Nick Underhill.

Moore joined the Eagles this season after serving as the offensive coordinator of the Los Angeles Chargers in 2023. From 2019 to 2022, Moore was the offensive coordinator of the Dallas Cowboys.

He’s widely regarded as one of the top up-and-coming names in the sport.

The Eagles’ offense has seen a lot of success under Kellen Moore this season. Philadelphia finished seventh in scoring offense (27.2 points per game) and second in rushing offense (179.3 yards per game). Running back Saquon Barkley had a historic season, rushing for 2,005 yards and 13 touchdowns in 16 games.

That kind of success has put him firmly on the Saints’ radar.

Kellen Moore was a quarterback in the NFL from 2012 to 2017 playing for the Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys. He played college football at Boise State and was named WAC Offensive Player of the Year in 2009 and 2010.

The news of tonight’s interview comes after a report that former Dallas Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy has emerged as one of the favorites in New Orleans.

Mike McCarthy the favorite in New Orleans?

McCarthy is yet to find a job after being dumped by Dallas but has been heavily linked with New Orleans ever since his split with the Cowboys.

In fact, ESPN’s Adam Schefter says McCarthy is the favorite to get the Saints job, despite the report of Kellen Moore interviewing. Aaron Glenn was the other name on the franchise’s wish list but he landed with the New York Jets.

“If we go back to the start of this hiring cycle, most people looked at the New Orleans Saints job and figured that the two names that figure prominently in their search would be Aaron Glenn and Mike McCarthy,” Schefter said Monday on SportsCenter. “Aaron Glenn got the head coaching job in New York with the Jets and had his introductory press conference today. Mike McCarthy is still out there and he’s expected to interview this week for the New Orleans Saints head coaching job…

“I think a lot of people around the league still look to Mike McCarthy as a name that would make a lot of sense in New Orleans. I think right now, he is certainly a favorite, if not the favorite, for the job. But they are still going through their process and we will see how it plays out here in the days to come.”

On3’s Brian Jones and Griffin McVeigh also contributed to this report.
