LOOK: New Orleans Saints quarterback Jameis Winston reacts to Jarvis Landry signing

Jameis Winston needed some weapons after starting last season with a bare cupboard of a wide receiving corps last season. Enter Michael Thomas, Chris Olave and newly-signed Jarvis Landry.

First, Thomas is finally healthy after rehabbing an injury throughout the 2021-22 season. Then, the Saints drafted Olave in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Now, New Orleans is bringing home Landry — a former star at LSU — via free agency.

After the news broke, Winston took to Twitter to show his excitement for the former Miami Dolphins and Cleveland Browns wide receiver joining the Saints.

Moreover, Landry finished his tenure at LSU as one of the most productive wide receivers in school history. He had 137 catches for 1,809 yards and 15 touchdowns while playing in 48 games with 12 starts during three years for the Tigers. Landry had his season as a junior when he caught 77 passes for 1,193 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Although Landry has thrived in the NFL for the Dolphins and Browns, he had a career low in production last season, only catching 52 passes for 570 yards. Disagreements with the Browns franchise led to him being released and free to sign with whatever team he pleased for the 2022 season. Now, Landry will be heading back to his home state of Louisiana after also playing his college football there.

Last season, Jameis Winston made the most out of a subpar wide receiving corps before going down with an injury. Now, the excitement can begin, as the football world will see what the former Florida State star can do with an impressive group of pass catchers.

Furthermore, Jarvis Landry inked a new deal to come back home and sign with the New Orleans Saints on Friday, and one NFL insider has now revealed the terms of the contract.

“For Jarvis Landry and the #Saints, it’s expected to be a one-year deal worth up to $6 million,” Tom Pelissero reported on NFL Network Friday Night. “A chance to go home, show he’s healthy and get back to the market next March, when Landry will be 30.”

As you can see, the Saints are offering Landry a chance to prove his worth back home. It could be a fun season for Jarvis Landry, and a fun season for the New Orleans Saints in 2022.
